Camping at Turihaua Point is CLOSED this season due to coastal erosion. - 2023/2024
No freedom camping any time.
For safety reasons no tents or caravans are allowed to be set up within 10 metres of the edge of the road. No vehicle can park within 5m of the edge of the road. The area will be marked out with 5 and 10 metre lines.
No reservations are taken for any campsites.
You cannot claim a campsite such as pegging out a tarpaulin. You must be onsite using an approved structure to be a permitted campsite.
One permit is issued for up to 6 people. For more than 6 people you will need to buy 2 permits.
You need a chemical toilet for every 8 people on site. Buckets with lids are not acceptable as a toilet. Inspectors patrol all campgrounds.
$16.50, up to 2 nights - 1 rubbish bag
$34, over 2 nights up to 10 nights - 5 rubbish bags
$71.50, over 10 nights up to 28 nights - 14 rubbish bags
The permit charge is for the disposal of solid and liquid waste.
Additional rubbish bags can be purchased for $2 each.
