Predator control for Nelson Lakes National Park

We plan to distribute non-toxic cereal bait pellets by helicopter from 1 April, depending on the weather.

Nelson Lakes National Park will remain open. You are advised not to walk tracks on the day/s of the operation. There will be access restrictions on Mt Robert Road while the operation takes place.

DOC will distribute toxic bait containing 1080 within a month of applying the non-toxic bait.

This operation is part of DOC's National Predator Control Programme to protect native species.

We walked on Robert Ridge Route and on Speargrass Walk on the way back.
Beautiful landscapes. Well signed. Can be hard, need good fitness. Take about 2 x 5 hours. Comfortable hut with amazing surroundings!

Great track with a lot of variations, the possibility to connect with different tracks/hikes with each other is great here - many possibilities.
Beautiful view from the ridge to every side.
