Easy to find, on time, friendly staff members.

Made our day trip to Tongariro much easier and shorter. Highly recommend the track - very crowded but beautiful views of the area and Emerald Lakes.

A bit pricey ($30 per person) but the drivers are really nice.

Positive as well is that you can park on a safe parking place for free. Negative was that there is no shuttle bus back from the end of the walk to the safe parking place before 2:30 pm. So if you are faster, you have to walk 800 metres more.

The attitude of the pair who actually drove us to the park saved this review from totally trashing Mountain Shuttle, but here is how it went.

We'd intended to stay at Mountain Shuttle Freedom Camp the night prior, but couldn't find it because there was no signage. Our contact from the website basically told me to "look at the map."

Had I been given some adequate information I'd have rated the experience an 8, because the shuttle was only about 15 minutes late (waiting for a late passenger) leaving for Tongariro, and the driver and the other staff person were pleasant, so I don't fault them.

Shame on Mountain Shuttle for not giving adequate information, and causing undue stress to their customers.

Had booked Mountain Shuttle for a confirmed 7:30am pickup at Ketetahi Parking Lot to go the Mangatepopo start of the Tongariro Crossing.

The night before got an email saying cannot do 7:30am had to be 8:30. I replied that it had to be 7:30. I was at the Parking Lot at 7:30am and no sign of Mountain Shuttle - very disappointing. Luckily was able to use another shuttle.

The way to the Tongariro Crossing we had to stand, because the bus was overcrowded.

We had to wait for a long time for the pick up, because their administration was not in order.

This is a review of Mountain Shuttle operating buses to the start and finish of the Tongariro crossing from Turangi, Tokaanu, and Whakapapa, not as far as I know from Taupo.

The 7.30 bus from Turangi was 25 minutes late on pickup. On arrival at the start the advertised 18.30 pickup at the end was stated to be withdrawn. We arrived at 14.58 for the 15.00 bus and there was no sign of it. We caught the 16.30 bus and noted that the driver spent little effort locating his passengers and drove off quickly; other drivers put in considerable effort to find their passengers.
