Waihirere Falls Track

2 km return | 1 hour return

This tranquil shaded walk is ideal to attempt with a young family. The large play area at the carpark has picnic tables and the walk adds to the activities you could do to tire the kids out.

The moss encrusted rocks of the small stream culminate in the bowl excavated by the waterfall. Nice setting for a swim.

Walking Track

Access

12 km from Gisborne along Back Ormond Road, turn right into Waihirere Domain Road and continue 1.5 km to a large parking area by the playground and toilets. Cross the small footbridge and head past the dried up swimming pool. The start of the track continues up the gully.

The track follows a small stream through lush forest to a waterfall.
