A Friend and I booked the 3.5 dayTongariro Hiking tour.

All we can say is "Amazing!"

Our guides were super friendly and professional and were so in tune with their surroundings, local stories and general knowledge of the area.

The highlights were the walk up to the active Crater lake - Ruapheu and the Sunrise Tongariro crossing - Wow!.

Our accommodation at the Chateau was full of history and delicious food, not to mention the wine and cheese every night.

We highly recommended Walking Legends friendly, accommodating and professional.

Thanks for creating a memory we will always remember. We will definitely be back for more.

Thanks for your review Flic. So glad to hear you enjoyed your Tongariro Hike with us. The Chateau is a great spot isn't it, and I think my favourite walk is the Ruapehu Crater Lake too! what a spot!

A group of girlfriends and I booked on the Coromandel Explorer for 4 days of hiking.

Absolutely loved it!! Stunning weather, gorgeous scenery and beautiful walks. Our meals were scrummy and all made by our guide Brad. Great accommodation - really relaxing and refreshing. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough!!!

Booking was a super easy process. Hilary was only too happy to answer our many (haha) questions and made sure we had everything we needed before departing.

Thanks Walking Legends - you guys really know your stuff!

I just come back from an amazing 4-days walk in the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk in the North Island of New Zealand with Walking Legends.

An unforgettable experience across New Zealand’s incredible wilderness, the “true New Zealand”. As we were a small group with very small backpacks; everyone could walk on his own rhythm with professional, competent, and enthusiastic guides.

Everything was just wonderful: the native forest, the food and the wine, the scenery, the stories of the guides, all their vast knowledge of the area and the Maori culture.

I would recommend Walking Legends to everyone who could be interested into discovering New Zealand’s incredible wilderness areas.

I think including Walking Legends in your guide book would be a great idea and I’m sure other travelers would enjoy hiking with them. Here are their details:

I took the oportunity to do both great walks Lake Waikaremoana and the Tongariro Crossing in the North Island with Walking Legends.

Lake Waikaremoana was a superb well organised 4 day hike on one of the New Zealands Great Walks in an area so remote and untouched by modern times. The lake and bush was both beautiful and serene and the accompanying guides were incredibly insightful with local knowledge and stories. Their professionalism made sure the entire journey was safe and help me achieve a journey that I wasn't sure I was fit enough to complete. No day was too hard and the climb up the bluff allowed me all the time and rest I needed to see the sublime view from the top, where it was so clear we could see Mt Ruapehu. At the end of each day a 3 course meal (with wine) was provided. The trip exceptional value for money. Excellent!!!

The trip to Tongariro was another 4 day trip but this time on top of the doing the crossing which is a challenging day walk, we did a number of excellent short walks through the local area demonstrating the diversity of the whole area from tussock land to rainforests all with spectacular waterfalls. We were also treated to a scrumptious meal at Chateu Tongariro.

Would thoroughly recommend Walking Legends to anyone considering attempting one of the great walks.
