Information

Coromandel Gold Stamper Battery

Everything works and all visitors will see gold being made!

The Coromandel Goldfield Centre & Stamper Battery is a 112 year old fully operational water powered plant for processing gold from rock.

The Stamper Battery has a Category One Historic Places Trust rating. Opened in 1899, this was the first diesel-powered gold processing plant in New Zealand and its last original stamper battery. It is the only six-head stamper battery in the world. The working machinery is still used for crushing gold ore and extracting gold.

Situated on Drinkwater Reserve, you can picnic amongst a lovely garden area by a shady stream.

Poor tour guide (nothing about mining only his own boring life story and conservative political statements).
