I booked this Lodge for my family and friends to celebrate my 6oth birthday.

It could not have been better! Such a gorgeous location, very clean and tidy, warm and cosy and Grant and Karen were so lovely to deal with. I would highly recommend it as a perfect location for family and friends get together. We stayed two nights and it was perfect.

Was everything we were looking for!

Very quiet and private (few other campervans), wide open peaceful spaces, really modern and clean shower and toilet. Hot showers. Grant was also such a responsive and delightful host and the property is well cared for.

One of the best places we stayed and for us so much preferred to busy cramped top 10 Holiday Parks. Just note you may not have access to kitchen facilities, which we didn’t mind since we had that in our van.

We’ve been traveling around in a camper van for a while now and we have stayed at many Holiday Parks.

This is by far the best, cleanest, well manicured, and friendly Park we have stayed at! Don’t let the old reviews discourage you from coming here. Highly recommended.

Have just stayed at Old Bones Lodge in our caravan and found Grant to be very accomodating.

The whole place looked great. They have 6 lovely and private hot tubs which are available to hire. He certainly didn’t have a problem with campervans or caravans as the previous reviewers posted 3-6 years ago. Ownership has changed since those reviews. We would certainly recommend staying here.

    This place was great!

The facilities were really what made it. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, brilliant kitchen and the icing on the cake was the lovely lounge area complete with a wood burning stove. It was great to settle down on the sofas for the evening and make use of the free WiFi. The camping spots weren't anything to write home about - our unpowered spot was just in the carpark. But with such lovely facilities it didn't matter!

A great start to our campervan experience.

A fantastic welcome from the owners, great facilities, a beautiful beach opposite the campsite and only 5 mins away from Oamaru, Steampunk HQ and the Penguins. If your passing through, you won't do better than this place

When we arrived at the lodge Gloria, the owner of the lodge, was very friendly and explained us where we could see penguins.

And she told us that we can use the lodge facilities, not only the showers and toilets but also the kitchen and the living room. We had free wifi and enjoyed the night at the nice site.

The price was one of the cheapest we paid and the location is awesome.

If I have something to tell about this place, JUST GO!

It's one of our favorite place we stayed arround south island!

Stayed 2 nights there in january with our small campervan. Owers are very kind. They helped me to find back my forgotten wallet 250km away! (a lot of work to arrange the way I can find it back without driving)

Place is just next to a beautifull wild beach, in the middle of the field with a lot of animals arround (bird, cheeps, cows...)

Sites are powered, free wifi is in the meeting house, a beautifull house, with outstanding view, big and perfect kitchen, confortable sofa to rest, chimney when it's cold, bathroom and shower are like in a 5 stars hotel, hot water without counting...

10 minutes you have the yellow eyes pinguins colony and the blue pinguins, so if you have somewhere to stay in Oamaru, it should be definitively this place!

Even for the 20$ / person (hot water, powered site, free wifi, computer with internet, really good accomodation), it worth it when you want a place to rest and enjoy arround!

    Thanx again!

A beautiful, quiet place overlooking the ocean.

A unique architectural design for a hostel-like accomodation: Two rows of four simple small bedrooms, each with a door opening outside and inside, embrace a lovely really spacious living area with glass walls to the ocean, dining tables, sofas, chairs, fireplace, and a generously equipped cooking section. Although we stayed in a campervan on a powered site nearby, we walked over to the building for every cup of coffee to enjoy the living area with the ocean room. Two nice sculptures outside and the landscaping complete a rare combination of human-made and natural beauty. Friendly owner. - Yellow-eyed and blue penguin colonies within a few minutes driving.

There are 7 campsites, but the owner doesn't like campers!!!

She is very unfriendly. She said on the first day it is no problem to sit in the kitchen after 10 clock. And the next day she said we had to move, because of cleaning. But nobody did any cleaning. The rooms are very expensive. $95.

    Unpowered per person is $15

    Powered pp $20

    Double room $95

I usually filter the best and the worst of the reviews, so we decided to spend a night at this place....

The reception by the owner was very friendly and we were given detailed directions to the penguin observation areas, which are a short drive away. The beach is just across the road.

The kitchen and lounge (very impressive view) are nice and a good meeting place.

Travelling in a camper van, I noted the following:

There are 4 or 5 places with electricity and the walk to the facilities becomes long if it is cold outside (as it is today).

Even looking around, I could not find a dump station and there seems to be only one water point, which requires along hose. The free WiFi obviously only works in the facility building, not on the sites.

For all this, you pay 40 dollars, in cash, she does not accept credit cards (a first after 2 weeks travel)

The place is largely overpriced (20dollars per person) and does not offer any facility for campervans.

In the morning, with a very heavy rain we spent about one hour trying to fill the water tank, with no help from the owner. After getting completely soaked wet we were denied the access to shower and kitchen because it was 10min after check out time. Needless to say it was their fault it got late, but the woman would not allow us in. Very unpleasant person. After leaving, we parked 50m away and the battery of our campervan ran out. We asked for help to recharge the battery but the owners did not want to help us, saying that we should call the assistance. Definitely the worst experience we had in our trips.

We spent 1 nigth in our campervan at a powered site.

We spent 1 nigth in our campervan at a powered site. The price was 20$ pr. person - also for our 16 year old daugther. but our son aged 13 paid 10$. Clearly you don't pay for the sites. They are boring and with no shelter. But the facilities at the house is very god. Toilets, hot showers, kitchen with all what you need, dining area, living area with couches and fire in the stove. Some quit music playing on the stereo. And the best part - FREE WIFI. That's worth all the money. Owner very helpfull. The power to our van disappeared 2 times. Every time she came and fixed it even though it was 11 o'clock in the evening!
