Very nice DOC info centre, with a small but very interesting museum, as well as lots of info brochures.

What we indeed like the most was the friendliness of the staff, we needed some pieces of information and the DOC employed woman efficiently provided us with all the details we looked for, always with a big smile on her face!

All the information you need to know before going North or South.

There is an exhibition attached to the information centre with many facts, videos, pictures, stories about the history of South West NZ.

Friendly etc, but would not give the information we wanted to have, that is: pathways, altitudes of these, experiences with these etc.

But always eager to help with topo map support.

    Large facility with modern interior.

1990s architecture, large visitor/interactive display which was unfortunately dated and felt old. Local school children had poems and artwork on display which demonstrated good connectivity with youth and local community groups.

A very good exhibition and many details about catching the 'whitebait'.

In the carpark in front of the DOC information centre you should try 'whitebait patties' (weekdays only) - Hmmmm do it!!!
