We are possibly the most highly recommended rental car company in NZ. Well over half of our business comes from returning customers, their friends and family.
Due to the time we spend on each rental - making sure our cars are maintained and presented to the highest of standards (for example even treating all glass surface with water repellent) We do all we can to make sure you have a stress free visit to New Zealand. We usually have a minimum rental period of 7 days (and can be more during summer and over the Christmas Holidays). Exception is of course made for our regulars.
We are based in Christchurch and mainly do Christchurch to Christchurch rentals. Although can help with one way rentals, with pick up or return to other locations.
We do our best to help make your holiday a fantastic one. We provide without charge, free rental of NZ mobile phones, NZ SIM cards (data capable), plenty of maps, tourist brochures, child seats and many other items. In winter, we have snow chains and ski/snowboard racks for a fixed per rental charge and will even demonstrate how they work. We even do Rice cookers. Think of me as your Local here in New Zealand, if there is something you would like just ask, I'll see what I can do.
In addition to renting out GPS navigation devices, we were one of the very first companies in NZ renting out mobile internet devices (for those who need internet connection wherever they are, even in the car). These devices act as personal WiFi Hotspots wherever there is mobile phone reception. We charge a small rental charge and whatever the phone company charge for the data you desire.
Another handy option visitors fine helpful is our camping gear. From complementary Chilly Bins, (Eski or cooler bin) and chairs to sit and enjoy the scenery or the stars, to tents, cooking gear and plastic tubs. Saving you the expense and inconvenience of buying your own, and not to mention more plastic winding up in the land fill when you leave for home.

We honestly were sceptical about all of the good reviews about this company, but we were so blown away by Vaughan and Valentine's service.
Before even getting to NZ, I had a call with Vaughan where he gave some awesome suggestions for our trip through the South island. So friendly and willing to go well above what you would expect.
The car was in amazing condition, and the camping gear that we borrowed was literally brand new. Having the camping gear changed our trip completely as well and took such a load off our minds.
The flexibility of Collecting the car in Picton and dropping it off in Queenstown was trip-changing for us. Not to mention they brought us the car directly, and dropped us off when we returned the car. No uber trip back required. Vaughan brought the car to us at the bus station, and Valentine dropped us off at our accommodation after getting the car from us in Queenstown.
We would recommend them to everyone we possibly could.
It was so refreshing to deal with someone who was honestly there to make your trip a good time.

Great experience 2nd time with Anzed.
Communications were clear and helpful. Picked up at the airport and also dropped us off at the airport.
The car we rented was big, spacious and reliable. We had no issues driving around the island for 10 days.

We are very experienced with car rentals and have never had a better experience with ANY COMPANY IN THE WORLD!!!
Vaughan was compulsive, service oriented, devoted and passionate about providing a personal experience with a South Island flair. Despite 140,00 Km/ 64,000 miles on the odometer, the Nissan performed perfectly and despite the roadwork and unpaved backroads with potholes, we had no problems with the tires including good gripping on rain slick roads. I can’t recommend Anzed highly enough!!!

Good service, although there was a misunderstanding at pickup & we had to call Vaughan to collect us, rather than being at Airport on flight arrival.
Vehicle went well, was great for transporting our bikes. Had a broken cup holder, so one coffee had to be consumed before hitting the road. Great drop off in Queenstown only 5 min from Airport.

Excellent service and excellent vehicle.
Vaughan was very quick and efficient when I asked for a rental car to be available on the same day as my request. The price was extremely reasonable and the insurance cover great. The car drove perfectly for the two weeks I used it to go around the South Island. I then received a complimentary airport drop off at the end of my rental period. I would highly recommend Anzed.

Phenomenal customer service! The bigger car hire companies should take a step back and learn from these guys. Vaughan and team went well, well out of their way to help us with our rental vehicle needs accomodating our bikes we had with us too. Communication prior to booking and during stay was amazing. We rented a Lexus ES 300 from Teddy for approximately two weeks while we toured the South Island.
I had first made contact with Teddy months beforehand and he was patient as he discussed the pros and cons of various vehicle choices given our itinerary and the type of car we typically drove, answering questions about insurance options, and arranging for a phone and personal hotspot wifi, etc. When we arrived, Teddy picked us up from our hotel and, after taking car of the rental contract and explaining the rules for driving in New Zealand, he loaded us up with maps and tour information for all parts of the island, activated our phone and hotspot, loaned us a cooler (chilly box(?)), portable chairs, a thermos and cups, and much more!
Although approximately ten years' old, the car was in impeccable condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. In fact, at one point during our stay, my husband remarked that he thought that car handled better than mine, which is the same model but several years' newer!
Teddy's customer service is also impeccable. I have already mentioned the service prior to us arriving and upon our arrival. However, mid-point during our stay, the personal hotspot stopped transmitting. We finally figured out that it was out of pre-paid data (those turn-by-turn directions really eat up the data!), and tried to add more to account, but were unsuccessful. I didn't realize it until after I had called and left a message that it was a Sunday evening (the days of week are somewhat meaningless when you are on vacation!). However, Teddy called me back that evening and was able to fix the issue on his end, then followed up with me the next day to ensure that everything was working correctly. Teddy also worked great with our car relocation service providers, making it feasible for us to do some of the one-way hiking trips that wouldn't have otherwise been possible! I recommend Anzed Rentals and Teddy without reservation.

Over repeat visits, Anzed Rentals has become our "go to" resource for rental cars in Christchurch.
If you're arriving into CHC airport, they will pick you up on site, make sure you have everything you need, and off you go! There's great communication before, during, and (if needed) after your stay.

We rented a car for local travel in Christchurch for 8 days in December 2021.
The vehicle was older but clean and reliable. Perfect for our purposes. The booking and communication process was smooth and efficient, and the service provided by Vaughan was excellent. We will rent again from Anzed Rentals.

Thanks, Vaughn, for the fantastic service, that started our unforgettable holiday, with the 3 grandchildren.
The spacious and comfortable Van gave room for each to have their own window to view the amazingly diverse scenery, from the Canterbury Plains to Lake Tekapo and Aoraki / Mt Cook, as well as the Hooker Valley tramp. They also counted the rabbits. This trip has opened a window of how little we saw, that we will come back to experience more of the South Island.

My husband and I recently rented a car through ANZED Rentals and were met at Queenstown Airport (as requested).
Hi
When hearing we would be doing a road trip (as far as Moeraki and Southland) and prior to our arrival we were offered an upgrade. This was such an un-expected blessing as it made our trip more comfortable.
The vehicle had previously been "dented" at the top of the wheel hub (near the bonnet). This was declared to us and it certainly did not compromise the vehicles safety (just feel for the organisation as parts and repairs will take longer than usual - due to Covid-related supply delays).
On behalf of my husband I would like to thank you so much. Communication was top notch and we were kept up-dated and informed throughout. Before taking us back to Queenstown Airport Valentine asked if we would like to do some last minute shopping - lovely gesture but sadly there was no room left in our suitcase!

Great personal service, My flight landed and when I switched my phone back on message immediately received to let me know Vaughan was waiting.
At hand over Vaughan took me through a brief demo, car controls, indicators etc and while I would have figured it out pretty quickly I appreciated his care and attention to ensuring I understood everything.
Great price for the 4 days too compared to other rentals I have used previously. Will definitely use again and have already recommended to others.

If I could give Anzed a 20 out of 10 then I would.
We were stranded in NZ whilst visiting from the UK earlier in the year and our stay extended to 7 weeks. We had used Anzed on a previous visit and had no hesitation in using them again. We were not disappointed, the same level of friendly help and advice, the same reliable cars (this time a Subaru Outback) and a service above and beyond what could have been expected during an unprecedented global pandemic. If your looking for something a little different as regards a great Kiwi welcome, personal service, good advice and helpful suggestions then go to Vaughan and Anzed, you won't be disappointed.

I researched car hire companies very carefully (because of previous poor experiences), and am SO pleased I chose Anzed.
Vaughan's service was everything he promised - and more.
The Mazda hatchback was perfect for our needs, and a joy to drive. But the main things were the personal touches.
Pick-up at Christchurch was very efficient, and Vaughan made sure we knew the important things about driving in NZ, as well as the best places to get good pies.
Little extras (vacuum flask) much appreciated.
And when we returned the car, Vaughan drove us to our accommodation.
I can't recommend Anzed highly enough! And do hope I'll be visiting New Zealand again.

OMG we loved Anzed Rentals!!
After a LOT of time spent investigating NZ car rentals we went with Anzed largely due to the consistently high ratings/reviews - and we weren’t disappointed. As promised it was so seamless. We were promptly picked up
at the Christchurch airport / the paperwork was done promptly at the agreed upon price / the Nissan sedan ran beautifully, was economical on gas, and had ample room for our luggage. Before we left we were given maps and were offered and accepted camp chairs, a cooler and cold pack, and the cables needed to charge our I Phones. What the heck we were thinking.... this is unheard of ... and all at no charge. At the end of our NZ visit and after more than 2000 km we returned the car and were driven to the airport to catch our flight. No extra charges...just a pleasant experience all round.
Look no further if you’re needing a rental in New Zealand!

We rented a car from Vaughan in early December for 18 days to tour the South Island.
We were picked up at our hotel and given a thorough presentation on New Zealand driving, specific suggestions about what to see and do and did not leave without camp chairs, an umbrella and a bluetooth device to help with Google Maps. By the time we left, Vaughan seemed more like a friend than anything else. The price was as good or better than anywhere else and the car was in excellent condition.We did not worry once about the car rental process and focused on enjoying New Zealand.During our trip, he emailed us to make sure all was well and we had not been impacted by road closures.When we returned the car, he drove us to the airport.
We have rented cars in several countries and have never even remotely experienced this level of service. This is a locally owned business where service matters and the commitment to do so infuses every thing they do. Do not think of any other company to patronize when thinking of a car rental in New Zealand. You will receive personalized service, a fair price and not have to think about anything else but enjoying New Zealand.

I spent a few weeks on a road trip in the South Island and before picking up a car rental company I did a lot of research.
From online reviews, it looked like all major car rental (both locals and international ones) had one main issue: customers complained about the car breaking down or having some issues at some point along the travel. And that honestly is a nightmare!
So I opted for Anzed Rental Cars because it had great reviews.
Vaughan, the owner, is one of the most helpful and detail-oriented guys I've found in New Zealand. Coming from Europe it was unusual for us driving on the left. Vaughan dedicated us almost 2 hours when we arrived to explain to us how car driving is different there and he gave us so much priceless advice.
The car he gave us never had any single issue! I couldn't have been more happy with my car rental.
I wish I could find a "Vaughan" everyone I hire a car!!

Where do I begin.
Vaughan is an awesome guy. Due to health issues we had to book a car last minute. Vaughan sorted out a car for us over WhatsApp at an extremely reasonable price. He collected us from the airport himself in the car and put in the car seat for our son before sending us on our way. The car suited our needs perfectly as we had to travel quite a lot up and down mountain passes which it handled with ease. When we dropped off the car Vaughan was busy with a client but as we were in a rush to get to the airport his mum took us over (great to see a real family business). Once he was free he sent us a message to check everything had been ok with the car and to wish us a great return flight. I really can recommend Vaughan and Anzed car hire to anyone.

We had an unexpected visit to Christchurch due to a family emergency.
Vaughan was able to provide us with a rental car at very short notice and extended the rental period when we needed more days. The level of service was outstanding and Vaughan was even happy to drop us off at our accommodation when we returned our vehicle. I cannot recommend ANZED Rentals highly enough.

I toured South Island for 2 weeks with my family and chose Anzed Rentals because it was competitively priced and had great reviews.
I will add my endorsement towards all those positive reviews as Vaughan is a genuinely nice bloke to deal with. From the moment I contacted him from Malaysia via email until he dropped us off at our motel at the end of our trip, he had made sure that my queries and concerns were looked into.
The ride we had reserved was the Mazda Axela which was supposed to be about 5 years old but unfortunately due to a cock-up we were offered other models as an upgrade without extra cost. We settled on a 15 year old Lexus ES 300 (3 liter). Though it was showing its age, it was still a good, reliable and clean car to drive around South Island's roads and mountain passes. It had enough power to tackle the steep mountain passes and braking/engine compression power to safely slow down the vehicle when going downhill with much dignity. I would expect the 2 liter Mazda to be noisier due to its lower engine capacity. Apart from some minor niggles, we have absolutely no issues with the Lexus and on hindsight, it was probably a better ride to tackle the rural roads of South Island. Fuel economy was a concern but upon top up at the last gas station, I worked out the consumption to be 9.25 liters per 100 km. Pretty respectable for so much high power driving on the mountain passes and valleys.
Throughout our journey, Vaughan kept in touch, especially when we had a scare after the floods washed out all 3 road links between Christchurch and the Mt Cook region where we were at. This was 3 days before we were scheduled to fly off from Christchurch. It was comforting to know that we had a local to advise us of the situation and offer alternatives.
All previous reviews were spot-on in saying that Vaughan spends more time with you prepping for the journey which is in contrast to renting from the usual international car rental companies. I fully recommend!
