Time: 2-4hrs (loop), Distance: 17km, Cycling Grade: 3
500m before the start of the walk, stop at the bridge to have a look at the stunning chasm.
The start of the track is easy to miss, it is on the left hand side where the road turns to gravel.
This is a short but beautiful track that weaves its way through native forest, with a short steep climb, a picturesque river ford and some wooden bridges en route. The track is only 10kms one way but along the way you can also check out the awesome site of the Pillars of Hercules before biking down to the Poutu Intake on the Tongariro River. You can then follow the 4WD tracks back to the start. Enjoy.
