Waihirere Falls Walk

Time: 1 hour return

The Waihirere Falls walk starts from Waihirere Domain, which is a classic Tairawhiti experience in itself. At the northern end of the domain, the walk follows the stream up the valley. It's one of the few native bush walks closely accessible to Gisborne. Once you get to the falls then it's a fun and relatively simple rock climb to the top - great little trip with the kids.

It was a good walk across farm land past some cattle beasts to a fenced off bush area.

Walk on a designated tight track through the Bush. As you got closer to the waterfall you could hear it from 150 metres away.

We were lucky it rained heaps the day before & the water was cascading down the fall in a torrential motion. Water vapour Ispraying up it was fantastic a once in a live time experience.

Normally the water cascades in a sedate fashion... so the farmer said as as we walking back to the road. Blessed we are.

A nice easy walk, great for doing with children - only about 20 minutes walk to a small waterfall.

    Feels like a special place.
