Aroha Tours put on a trip of a lifetime for us!
We went to amazing cities and and saw come incredible sights. I don't think we could have had a better tour guide and driver than Steve. He was immensely knowledgeable for all destinations we visited and went above and beyond to ensure we all had a enjoyable trip. We toured with this company for almost 20 days in Jan, 2020.
You'd think in that time we'd have come across at least a couple things to not like about them. But that wasn't the case at all. Aroha are complete professionals. Absolutely perfect planning & execution. All of the arrangements were great (hotels, transport, scheduling, etc.). We were on schedule 100% of the time. It was an absolute pleasure to tour NZ with Aroha. Special mention to Steve, our driver cum guide - wow! what a guy! A true professional. Extremely knowledgeable about everything NZ (even his restaurant recommendations were on point). We were a big group, but he remembered everyone's names. He catered to everyone's needs. Very safe driver. We were very fortunate he chose to drive us. This was an unforgettable trip thanks to Steve & Aroha. 10/10 would recommend. 10/10 would work with Aroha again.

We had one of the most memorable vacations in New Zealand in October 2019.
We booked our tour with Aroha Newzealand Tours after a recommendation from a friend. They are extremely professional and understood our needs as a vegetarian family of 4 (with 3 members prone to travel sickness).
The15 day trip covering North & South Island was custom made for us with room for unexpected changes. Our special recommendations for Mr.Steve- an extremely knowledgeable gentleman, who ensured a stress-free vacation.

Aroha Tours was spectacular!
We used Aroha for our 2 week honeymoon in New Zealand. The trip was beyond perfect. Veronika, the owner, planned everything to perfection according to our preferences. Our tour guides Steve and Dave were fun and knowledgeable, putting up with us on hours in the van. If you ever visit New Zealand, use Aroha! We got to know both islands in an intimate manner and had an amazing time.

Veronika at Aroha Tours planned a two week trip for my husband and me with 4 days on the North Island and 10 days on the South Island.
The trip was marvelous in every way, and we unhesitatingly recommend Aroha. An amazing experience.
We first contacted Veronika 6 month ahead of our visit. Veronika made it all much simpler than anticipated. The planning process was simple. Veronika took the time to listen to us. She perfectly accommodated the criteria we provided her with, including budget, type of lodging and type of activities. Fast forward to February 2019... the visit in the South Island of NZ was absolutely amazing. We stayed in lodges that were unique and visited locations that were amazing. The locations, the food prepared for us in each location and the activities we participated in were all carefully selected by Veronika and were spot on. People likely visit the same locations but it is really all about how you get there, when you get there and everything that happens in between.
We have also greatly enjoyed the private guide that accompanied us throughout our stay. Zuzana was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and acomodating for all of our requests. Things change due to weather in a trip like ours and Zuzana, working with Veronika, was able to come up with ideas and alternative plans that proved to be great.
We recommend touring NZ with Aroha Tours and Veronika. I wish we could do it again next year.

My family and I have returned to the USA from the most well organized tour we have ever be on.
Aroha tours was a pleasure to work with from day one. Veronika responded to my initial email requesting an itinerary with a 24 hour period. I think this in itself is impressive. We worked together for several weeks and Veronika included everything in the itinerary that my family requested.
Upon our arrival, Dave,our tour guide, was promptly waiting for us. He gathered all our bags and off we went. We traveled from Christchurch to the west coast. Dave was always on time getting us to all our planned activities and also suggesting impromptu stops . He was a great guide and friend. We will miss him.

We were a party of two senior parents (me and my wife) three adult children and two daughters in-law and we had only eight days to try and see as much of New Zealand as we could.
At the minimum, we wanted to see Auckland and Rotorua on the North Island and Christchurch and Queenstown on the South Island. I also wanted our five children and daughter in-laws to experience a jet boat ride, a Maori cultural performance, wine tasting, a Lord of the Rings experience, punting on the Avon, some close ups of glaciers, plus whatever else could be crammed into the short time available. In the end, we settled on Aroha Tours, owned and headed by Veronika Vermeulen, a transplanted German who had fallen in love with the country as a young girl and decided to set up her outfit after having worked for several years in and around NZ’s travel industry.
Veronika was very conscious in making the tour private in the true meaning of the word. She suggested a private dinner cruise on Lake Taupo that turned out to be a great experience. She suggested a glow worm cave that was private and where we could take pictures – unlike the other group tour based glow worm tours – though we saw less glow worms than the more popular places. She also hinted that Maori cultural dinner performances were too touristy and she suggested an actual Maori greeting and dance on historical Mokoia Island.
My wife and I were impressed with Veronika’s quickness to suggest alternatives. It was Veronika’s responsiveness to our comments, questions, and suggestions that tipped the decision in favor of Aroha. She was also the first to come up with a complete first-draft itinerary which impressed me a lot. Looking back, we made a great choice – Veronika delivered on the promises and kept a watchful eye on everyone. I would without hesitation heartily recommend Veronika Vermeulen’s Aroha Tours for couples or families wanting a top-class private NZ tour.

My wife and I along with two other couples thoroughly enjoyed a 16 day tour of both the North and South islands.
Excellent accommodations and itinerary with Jurgen being our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to say the least. Veronika helped us plan an amazing journey through New Zealand.
We had twelve days to spend in New Zealand and she organized a wonderful trip to help us get a flavor for what New Zealand is all about. We spent two to four days in four locations and from each spot we took in some great hikes, beautiful scenery, delicious food and great one off adventures. The accommodations were fantastic in all our stops. Andrew, our guide joined us after our initial three days on Waheike Island (where we zip lined, enjoyed a wine tour and took in Auckland for a day). With Andrew we were off to Taupo, Mt. Cook and Queenstown. We hiked, walked on glaciers, bungee jumped, tasted wine and had some great meals. Andrew was a pleasure to be with and he adjusted/added to our itinerary on the fly as options presented themselves or weather did not cooperate. We could not have asked for a better person to spend our time with in New Zealand. Thank you Veronika and Andrew.

Our experience with Aroha and driver/guide Steve Popperwell was nothing short of exceptional.
Kudos to Veronika for customizing a truly remarkable three-week tour of both islands. The diverse accommodation, from five star hotels to a luxury stay at the spectacular Waitomo farm, a night at Okiwa Bay Lodge with its gorgeous views, numerous boutique lodges and historical homes, gave us intimate insights into Kiwi life and these genteel people. From kayaking in Golden Bay, river rafting on the Rangitaiki River, boating on Milford Sound, sandboarding in Hokianga to name some of the standout experiences, it was all-encompassing and highly memorable. Not to forget the food which I would award overall 4 stars and, on a couple of occasions, 5. We were three couples on this once-in-a-lifetime trip and our thanks to Steve for making sure all our needs were met, his flexibility in catering to all our whims and taking us off the beaten track on occasions showing us sights we would unlikely have found on our own, is never to be forgotten and much appreciated.

Our first trip with Aroha Luxury New Zealand Tours turned out to be a most wonderful experience.
We were a group of four who spent 11 days exploring both the North and South Islands. We had two guides, Veronika and Stephen, who became more than guides. They felt like traveling companions as we were personally guided throughout NZ. The itinerary we set during our planning of this trip was spot on and the flexibility we had each day to adjust times and locations as needed was a perfect combination of itinerary combined with flexibility. Our experiences were exceptional and both Veronika and Stephens suggestions for dining and unplanned activities really added value to our trip. I will strongly recommend Aroha to my fellow travelers here in the states who may be planning a NZ trip. As for my group, we all hope to get back to NZ and of course we would only use Aroha when we return....highly recommended!!

This was the third time I toured NZ with Aroha Tours.
That alone may tell you what wonderful experiences I had with them. My first trip was together with my brother in 2013 (short 7 days tour of parts of the South Island). I posted a review about this trip here in November 2013. The second time my father and I went to the North Island for 10 days in 2014 and the third time we did a two weeks tour of the South Island in February/March 2016. I cannot thank Veronika and her team enough. Everything, from the first contact, to the planning and last but not least to the trip itself are done with expertise and warmth, which is hardly found anywhere. The itineraries and the lodges are planned and selected with the greatest care and are perfectly adjusted to your requirements and wishes. And there is always enough room for flexibility, so that changes are possible also while you are already there. On all our trips Jurgen was our guide. He did an awesome job! To say his knowledge of the country is extensive is actually an understatement. Most of all his friendliness and humor make him a perfect company for such a tour. We consider Jurgen a friend by now. I am convinced that there is no better choice than Aroha Tours when you want to visit New Zealand and make the most of your trip! I cannot recommend them enough.

Our family of three travelled for 14 days in the South Island
We enjoyed everything that Veronica had arranged for us. She planned an action packed trip that included a penguin tour, horseback riding, glow worm caves, hikes, a kayak tour, jet boat ride, Milford Sound and glacier visits. We sampled local wines and cheeses and saw spectacular scenery.
Our trip was very well co-ordinated. Chris knew exactly how long travel time would take and the best places to eat and drink. We did so much more than we ever could have on our own. He was so helpful and kind. Our 11 year old son adored him.
The accommodations were all unique with perfect locations. We really enjoyed Lakeside Villas in Wanaka and the Hapuka Factory. We appreciated the kitchen and laundry facilities available in all of them.
We found Aroha Tours on an internet search and were totally impressed with the honesty and quality of this vendor. Everything was exactly as stated and when one of our plan rides was cancelled due to weather our money was refunded promptly after we got home from New Zealand

I have traveled the world over and the the 14 days spent with Aroha Tours, was one of the best experiences of my life.
My wife Carolyn and I traveled with another couple around both islands. Aroha made all the arrangements in some fantasic lodges. Our guide, Veronika was knowledgable and was very accomodating when we made adjustments along the way. This was Carolyn and my second experience with Aroha. My wife and I spent 17 days touring the South Island in January 2014.
The itinerary and guide/driver were arranged by Veronika at Aroha Tours. Our movement about the country was totally seamless. Our guide anticipated problems and mitigated them before they became an issue. He adjusted the pace of our day depending upon our interests particularly since we are serious amateur photographers and tended to linger waiting for the right photo opportunity. Every lodge that was chosen was outstanding with regard to the basic accommodation, friendliness of the owners and staff and the cuisine. In several instances the lodges were quite unique such as the Hapaku Treehouse Lodge, Bay of Many Coves and Westhaven Lodge. We could sense that as a client of Aroha we were afforded every attention possible to insure a great experience. Our guide was thoroughly knowledgeable of the history and culture of the Island as well as the nuances of New Zealand wine and food. We were overwhelmed by the activities which were planned for us such as swimming with seals in the Pacific, watching sperm whales and spelunking. I cannot image a more enjoyable luxury tour of this part of the world than the one offered to my wife and I by Aroha.

My young adult daughter and I have recently returned from the holiday of a lifetime on South Island with Aroha tours.
Our guide Jurgen was absolutely brilliant throughout taking great care of us but was also most informative and entertaining on our travels.He related easily to both of us and we had a lot of fun. The whole programme planned by Veronika in Aroha suited our needs and the delivery of the holiday exceeded our expectations.We gained considerably from their local knowledge and we could never have achieved as much in our holiday time frame on our own.We plan to visit North Island in the future and would not hesitate to use Aroha again and would heartily recommend their services

Veronika's Aroha Luxury Tours made our dream come true beyond our expectations!!
She planned a North/South Island two week adventure that was truly spectacular. With only a brief idea of what we wanted, Veronika not only understood our desires, but expanded and modified the trip along the way to ensure that we got the most from the tour. The luxury lodges were outstanding because she had personally stayed, knew the owners and settings. The lodges, their views, meals, the owners all were unbelievable...great memories. We had unique adventures to private areas that only a select few will ever experience. Like the private 4-wheel drive tour of a 30,000 acre farm high in the hills for a private lunch and spectacular view, with the service owner who enjoys showing people "his New Zealand". Or the helicopter tour of White Island volcano lifetime chance or the other helicopter ride high above the Fiordland mountains/water to a view and experience that we will never forget for its spectacular sights, landings, and captivating aerial views that the pilot/owner thrilled us with. The helicopter ride to the glacier and mountains was also truly spectacular with the bright sun and unbelievable views. What was our favorite activity??...all were forever embedded in our memories. Aroha Luxury Tours did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend Veronika, the owner, for her knowledge, her understanding of what a client wants, ability to modify to enhance the enjoyment along the way, her true "love of New Zealand" and desire to make sure that you see the real sights and get to experience New Zealand rather than provide a "tour" service. You will miss so much if you try to do this yourself. You experience things you did not think possible or would dream of without her arrangements. The lasting memories, pictures, experiences of New Zealand will be treasured. We spent two weeks in NZ splitting our time between the North and South Island.
We contacted Veronika with some ideas of what we thought we wanted on our trip. And she planned the perfect 2 weeks! It's uncanny how it seems like she knew what we wanted more than we did. Needless to say we had a great time. The mix of activities allowed us to take advantage of New Zealand's diversity. The accommodations were great. The pace was just right for us to relax, get to know the culture and the people, and take in as much as we could. The guides were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and most of all just awesome to hang out with. We loved New Zealand and would definitely be back and we can't imagine touring again with anyone else but Aroha!

My brother and I had only 7 days to visit New Zealand and wanted to make the best of the short time available.
I found Aroha Tours on the internet and contacted Veronika, the owner. Already during our email correspondence with her it became clear that we chose the right company for our trip. Veronika offered us various options for our tour, but also gave us her recommendations, which was very helpful. We finally decided on an only South Island tour and Veronika put together a fantastic itinerary. One of the great advantages of visiting New Zealand with Aroha Tours is that everything is taken care of and you can concentrate exclusively on New Zealand and the sights. Also, the original itinerary is flexible and our guide changed it according to our personal preferences, which made our trip even more unique. Our guide was Juergen and we cannot thank him enough!! With his knowledge and great personality he made our tour an especially delightful and fascinating experience; and we had a lot of fun, too!

GREATEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD!!!
We had used this company to help plan our entire Honeymoon and they did not fail to amaze us. Our itinerary was put together very well thanks to Veronika and was well executed by our tour guide Steve. They made our trip very relaxing and pleasant. Also not to mention an experience of a lifetime. If you ever want to experience the REAL New Zealand, we would highly recommend this company to show you the way. My wife and I really enjoyed the Glow Worm caves and would love to do it again when we get back. Also the River Lodge is the best place to stay and experience nature at its best. Thank you again Veronika and Steve for giving us a trip we will never forget. :]

Me, my wife, and 10yo daughter booked a private tour with Aroha last August 2013.
Veronika arrange everything from the hotel up to the details journey and give us an advise on our proposal. The result is very great, we really enjoy the journey, the hotel and everything are perfect. The adventure really suitable with us, not too tired and really fun. Especially our host, Mr. Steve P. He accompany us during the adventure and he is a really helpful guy. He knows all the best spot in the South Island, a nice warm cafe in the small beautiful town, and the most important thing he really a good company for my daughter. I would suggest him if you bring a kids during the visit to NZ. Thank you Veronika and Steve.

Aroha New Zealand Tours and the owner, Veronika, escorted us during our entire stay in the North Island of New Zealand.
She customized the trip specifically to our interests and was willing and able to change our itinerary at any point in time to ensure that we got the best possible experience as she got to know the four of us (two couples) better. Her love of New Zealand and extensive knowledge of the history, geography, culture, food and wine was impressive. And, she was great fun to hang out with. There was never a dull moment with Veronika. She genuinely loves what she does and she does it very well. Her passion for New Zealand is contagious. We can't wait to go back and explore the South Island with her!

Our personal guide, Veronika was one of the most amazing guides we have ever had.
Her attention to detail and flexibility was a pleasure and a great way to experience the North Island with what little time we had. We would recommend her tours highly and with the assurance that all you need will be taken care of.
The eating experience was fabulous. Thanks to her, we got to eat at some amazing places, and made this trip most memorable.

WOW! We travel quite a bit and have never had such an incredible and enjoyable vacation!
We were a group of 10 (including adults, teens and pre-teens). Veronika created an amazing custom itinerary with spectacular accommodations and we are still baffled that she accomplished this at such an affordable cost. Her communication and planning were excellent and she has tremendous integrity - one of our excursions had to be cancelled (due to weather) and she went out of her way to make sure that we were reimbursed for that expense.
Our guide, Jurgen was terrific! He truly loves NZ and was a wealth of knowledge. Loved his sense of humor and easy going nature... and yet he made sure that we kept on track and we were always well informed.
If you are traveling to NZ, this is THE company to make your trip hassle free and truly outstanding.

Great personalised and professional guide who catered to our individual needs, managed our time well and ensure our safety on the road.
Good recommendation of accommodation and a well-organised, relaxing itinerary with great insight. We enjoyed most of the nature parks, e.g. the Reflection at Lake Matheson, the Hokitika Gorge, the Blue Pool, etc. No admission fee, but please be generous with the donation so that the parks will be kept-up and well-maintained.
