15 NZD/night for unpowered in winter season really gets you a lot here.
Tons of space, easy 10/10 kitchen facilities, clean toilets, hot showers are 1 or 2 NZD for 5 minutes, washing machine available for 4 NZD, no dryer i could se but they got racks for hanging your clothes.
You can pay for your stay with either cash or card (eftpos) in the kitchen when you arrive. The hosts are very nice.

An update on this location.
It has been updated on the process to book it. You need to download the Penny app to access bookings. Also you will need a KIWICASH token so you can get access to the boom gate and it is also is now used in the showers instead of coins. Everything else is still the same and it is a great little park to visit. Hope this will help anyone booking into the park after 7 October 2024.

Great little spot protected from the wind.
Easy check in envelope for cash or EFTPOS receipt. Rankers says: First come, first served, but you need to book or take your chance and call when you get here. Either way you need to call when you get here. $15 For a powered site for 2? Thumbs up!!

Peaceful campsite with nice toilets and a small kitchen.
Everything you need with $1 showers and at $21 for three of us with power a really good price. You can’t swim in the sea but there is a small lagoon you can swim in. A good point to stop at on the way from/ to Christchurch.

Great location.
Good walks nearby.
$1 for 4 or 5 minute shower, can add more coin for longer. This is the best shower I’ve had in a month on the road. Prefect pressure and temperature. Very clean facilities.
Self serve eftpos available for checking in. Brilliant system.
You can book ahead if you’re after a certain location.
$15 powered site for 2. Friendly staff and visitors.

This is a fair drive out of the way, we paid $10 per night for an unpowered site.
Its council run and operated. There were a lot of permanent looking caravans there. We paid for hot showers, which were fairly long. The kitchen amenities were old and dingey, and the caretaker had taken it upon himself to write rude and unnecessary signs ALL over the place. We only stayed here as we had to be in Christchurch the next day.

Decent facilities, kept nice and clean.
About 30mins from any stores/shops and we were out of luck with getting $1 coins for the showers, luckily the kind maintainence man gave me and my partner $2 to use!
Plenty of spots, we were given great advice by the maintanence man to park amongst the trees to shelter from the wind.
Nice walk along the seaside with plenty of rocks perfect for skimming!
For $10 overnight for an unpowered site for 2 people couldn't complain!

Rakaia huts camping ground is a wonderful place to camp, has toilets and showers operated by put a $1 in, waging machine, kitchen, fridge and freezers.
We had a wonderful weekend away with our FurBaby and abided by camp rules that dogs need to be on a leash or tie up, great place for walks, fishing and of course waitbait at the moment. Lovely family camp for those who have children, well looked after and we well be heading back there again 100%
