Jump was great - my instructor and the crew in the airport did a good job!
But the handling of the bookings was really poor! Due to overbooking we had to wait almost 4 hours additionally. Booked on 2.30 and asked to come back "because of bad weather conditions" at 5 and then again at 6. - while other people were jumping the whole time. The woman at the booking counter was telling everybody different stories and times - thinking we were too stupid to check it, even we were sitting in one waiting area - really unprofessional! Later we bad to hear from the Crew the stories about the previous Jumps in the early afternoon.

Hello, and thank you for your review. I am sorry that your jump time was moved to the afternoon, but weather conditions in the morning were not good enough to fly safely, therefore we cannot take customers up! The jump was rescheduled for the afternoon and you checked in for that at 1.30pm. We do ask that you allow 2.5 hours for the activity as sometimes the weather does delay us..especially at this time of year! Our customers are always given the option of re-booking at a convenient time or leaving with no charge if their given time is not possible. I am glad that you chose to wait and the weather cleared enough for us to jump with you. The scenery is spectacular and I hope you enjoyed it once we were able to get you up there! Again I apologise for the delay, but safety comes first!

My first time sky diving experience, Its very fun and really enjoy it.
I got chance to drive my parachute as well.
The only room for improvement is regarding briefing for newbie, I suppose to sky dive at lake wanaka but cancel due to strong wind and bad weather. but they give me the good briefing using video which is very helpful.
And one more, it would be better if we got option to change the music for our video.

Thank you your review. I am glad you enjoyed your experience and appreciate your feed back..we have been looking into an instructional DVD, but are keen to keep the experience personal at the same time..hopefully we will reach a happy medium!
In regards to music, unfortunately due to licencing law we must use music that is bought for commercial purposes and copyright paid for..Therefore we can not offer to put personal music choices onto our DVD's. I hope you understand! Thanks again for jumping with us..I am glad you got to steer the parachute and hope your experience has stayed with you!

I went with one of my best mates on our birthday to take the highest jump that we could with Skydive Franz.
The staff are very friendly and calm which helped us settle our nerves. I did not get a chance to steer the parachute which would have made the experience even better.
Despite that, I really enjoyed the free fall experience. It is something I will always remember.

I am probably the first person to give this rating, but this is my honest review.
I read all the positive reviews and was very excited to go on this, trusting the professionals to give me an awesome epic first skydive experience.
I paid quite a sum for the 18,000ft skydive + video + photos, and they suited and strapped us up and told us how to get in position for the jump. But not once did they tell us what to expect nor any safety briefing nor anything that could potentially happen.
We were quickly interviewed and taken up. Once my skydive master jumped, I got such a shock. My ears hurt SO badly, and all the saliva in my mouth dried up due to the wind. Despite how happy I looked in my video (it's all for the camera), I was in such discomfort and surprise that I hardly noticed the scenery, all I remember seeing was a lot of greenery and clouds.
My friend and I brought this up to them, and it felt like the guys at the counter were just giving us excuses after excuses! The worst being that 1 in 100 people who jumped experienced pain, and that airlines do not tell their passengers to equalise their ears either. Almost everyone (6ppl) in our group experienced ear pain, and 3 of them got a better experience because I told them about mine. When you are freefalling THAT fast and you have NO CLUE at all if anything you do is safe, you just don't think to do much. Definitely not like in an aircraft where you are calm and can very easily get an air stewardess!
I have a feeling that people think that this experience is supposed to be so epic that they just don't bring this up or can't be bothered to. The Taiwanese girls I jumped with certainly wouldn't.
It's like this company just wants to hustle tourists in and out and get their money in as fast as possible without regard for their comfort or experience.

Thanks for your feedback. It is unfortunate that your experience was not as enjoyable as you expected.
We felt that we acknowledged your concerns on the day and informed you we would consider your feedback. Though we could not promise to implement any new procedures as you suggested without discussion or consideration. We have since amended our procedure to ensure it is now even more clear than it was before that customers that are aware they have sensitive ears must inform us of this prior to their jump. The valsalva manoeuvre is also now a included in our briefing for all customers.
All customers are briefed on what is expected of them during the skydive. The tandem passenger's role is intentionally kept simple. The main reason for this is because sensory-overload is common in skydiving. Giving too much information to an inexperienced tandem passenger actually increases the chance of disorientation. With this there is and increased chance of the customer doing something to put both themselves and their tandem master at risk. Over learning also reduces the customers chances of enjoying the scenery and the sensations associated with the activity. Keeping the passengers role simple means they can enjoy the ride, the scenery and the sensations knowing their highly experienced and qualified tandem master is in control of the descent and any circumstances that may occur.
While pressure build-up in the inner ear and sinus cavity is normal, and slight discomfort can occur, pain the next day and immediately after exit is not. It seems you may have unknowingly had an ear infection at the time. If your discomfort continued we suggest you visit a doctor to check it out.
We love what we do and are proud to offer this amazing experience to people from all over the world. We've been rated New Zealand's Best Skydive based on customers' reviews, so we take on board you comments and appreciate your feedback.
We hope you enjoy the remainder of your visit to New Zealand.

...was not my first tandem skydive but the best.
18,000 is worth it, if it is not your first jump. otherwise, 12,000 ft is enough cause you will get flashed anyway.
great team, they make you feel comfortable and safe.
Overall: Great Experience!

Hi Harrison,
Thanks for the review! You're right, it is so worth going to 18,000ft. I think even for your first jump the 18,000ft is perfect. The first maybe 30 seconds of free fall is like sensory overload with so many new and unfamiliar things happening and your adrenaline is pumping so that when you land and you are asked, 'Did you enjoy your jump?!!' you say, 'Yeh! It was amazing, I loved it! But it's a bit of a blur!' When you go to the higher altitudes, you get more free-fall so you have a chance to get over the initial rush and relax into the experience of free-falling. This gives you a chance to appreciate the sensation of free fall and also to take in the epic scenery that surrounds you during you skydive. (Your flight to altitude is longer too!) Obviously budget does come into it and any skydive here is going to be amazing, but I would always encourage everyone to go as high as they can as you did, kudos to you my friend! :)
Thanks again for the wicked review Harrison and thanks for jumping with us.
