Very nice campround, very clean and very cheap and confortable comparing to DOC campgrounds with only a drop toilet.

A lovely camping area that is very clean and well maintained.
The camp hosts are so friendly! There is drinking water, coin operated laundry, a communal kitchen (with a tap, microwave, and tea kettle), coin operated showers (hot water and good water pressure), and spotlessly clean flush toilets. The host was kindly willing to change out paper money for coins to operate the amenities for us.
It was a luxury experience after some of the DOC sites we had been staying at, and all for a great price ($11 per person, cash only).

Clean cheap and friendly, cash only, gravel site after rain no access to grass, showers cost and take only $1 coins.
There is a great little toy room on the lounge for kids all ages. No oven, basic kitchen. I would recommend for a night or two.

Showed up with no reservation and it was easy to snag a spot.
Facilities are adequate and basic but lovingly looked after and decorated. The managers (couple) are onsite and very sweet. It's an open site plan but grassy and scenic, and quiet at night. Late morning there's an amusing symphony of cows and birds in the distance. Would for sure return.

What a treasure this little camp is on the fringe of CHCH!
Ideal for a cleanup & regroup before heading back into the big smoke! Immaculately clean with fresh flowers in the bathrooms!

Absolutely beautiful spot, greeted so warmly from the caretaker, toilets and showers are incredibly clean and very well looked after, laundry services available.
Kids hat a ball playing tennis and netball and on the playground (all equipment provided) the water is clean and great to drink from. Absolutely picturesque. Highly recommend!

A great little spot before taking on Arthur’s pass.
You pay in cash to a man who live on site in a bus. He clearly takes excellent care of the place, the kitchen and showers were spotless and homely. The flowers were beautiful. We had a free game of tennis on the tennis court in the campsite. Nice views.

So disappointed, we arrived at 9pm (after realising we had no cash and so bought dinner in the local pub to get some cash back) we parked up after reading that payment would be taken at any time by the
caretaker for him to come over and tell us “I’m not checking anybody in at this time, everyone has a phone, you can go back out the gate” of course we understand it was late, we just assumed from all the reviews that we would be able to just pay cash or settle in the morning, we’d have happily left our passports with him as guarantee but he wasn’t interested! Luckily Porters lodge in castle hill are happy to have us arrive and pay in the morning! Make sure you don’t arrive after dark.
