Very nice quiet spot to overnight.

The city of Hamilton must have done something (right), because it was peaceful, clean, just 5 other vehicles, no-one co

Ing in or going out all night. Nicely shaded and flat parking.

I'd read the reviews and arrived with scepticism.

Before I could finish cooking some eggs, a car was repeatedly doing handbrake turns and two cars parked oddly on the grass and did some sort of exchange before disappearing. These and the two wrap bags on the car park floor convinced me to move on. Note - overnight parking is permissible on any street that doesn't have timed parking or restrictions here in Hamilton. I found a ideallic spot by a 24hr toilet 50m from the river and picnic area. More than perfect.

    Increasingly dodgy.

Last weekend two guys tried to attack someone with a machete. We thought we might be witnessing a murder! It sounds like it’s become a long term venue for people living out of cars, not racers, and the local ne'er-do-wells. Better avoided.

Definitely a drug dealers location, had sketchy types coming and going all night and no lights in the car park made it a perfect environment for these activities, I wish I had read the previous review

before I arrived. Left in the middle of the night due to feeling unsafe. It’s a shame because it would be a great place to stay otherwise.

We usually stay here and although it may not be everyones cup of tea we like it.

The surrounding trees and landscape is nice and I find it is quite peaceful. I like it that there are other friendly campers around and that helps to make you feel safer.

good place to stay a night.

toilets clean enough, but closed at night.

3min walk next to the sports field.

plenty places left, even in summer.

    altough,..

some dodgy cars and people around,

but enough FDcampers to feel safe.

I thought this was a self contained parking space?

There was an auto that was clearly not self contained. There was a tent with loud music ALL night and the couple was swearing loudly at each other ALL night (clearly NOT self contained). The good : the surroundings were beautiful and would be a great place to park up for a night for a break on a long trip.

Heaps of better places to stay, given that you can stay pretty much anywhere in Hamilton.

Along the river, by the lake, anywhere else with a toilet. No need to be certified self contained: just don't make/leave a mess or annoy the neighbors.

Felt very unsafe here as there are people living in tents full time at the site.

Good toilets but just a scary place to stay, we left in the middle of the night due to loud music, drinking and yelling.

It’s a big carpark next to a sports oval and athletics track.

There are toilets in the aths clubhouse, but the gate gets locked at night. It was reasonably quiet but pretty sure we saw a drug deal take place! There were a few other campervans staying there too.
