If there is 2 or 3 in your group this could be the option for you. 3 travelling seats with seatbelts with a queen sized bed running sideways along the back of the vehicle. There is also a single bunk bed and we can provide a tent for you free of charge.

This company is great and I would definitely recommend it.
Since making the booking all the way to dropping the van off, we experienced great customer service. A big thanks to Ross and Mike! We went with the sleepervan option (2 berth & budget-friendly) and it had everything we needed for our 2-week road trip. The bed and bedding was comfy and the little kitchen well equipped. The mini fridge is a beauty...even when parked it kept running and kept our food cool. Overall a great experience!

Had a flawless experience with CamperCo during our 1.5-month hire.
We rented a Toyota Estima and traveled throughout both NZ islands. Pickup and dropoff were smooth, the campervan was in very good order, and staff were very friendly, prompt and helpful when we needed stuff taken care of (there was a problem with the sink's pipes, and staff gave us instructions on where and how to get it resolved and it was fixed quickly).
A small company that has excellent communication and availability for all queries and problems. Highly recommended!

We rented the hi top campervan while touring the south island for 2 weeks.
It suited our needs quite well, and honestly you can't beat the price. For 2 adults this gives a good option of cooking inside the van, which was great for the rainy weather we experienced. Nick was very informative on the reservation side of things, and worked with us to find a 2 week period in January that we could rent the van. We had flight delays getting in to CHC, and CamperCo was very accommodating to our changes. Ross picked us up and gave us all the necessary info on the van, and was readily available via text as we had a few questions when we started our journey. Van was equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils and bedding, nothing smelled weird, and all utilities worked. Overall, a great van experience, but even better customer service by CamperCo. We may opt for the larger van next time if we do a longer trip, as it was pretty tight quarters if you kept the bed made up in the hi top. Highly recommend CamperCo, and will be using again when we visit!

We were very satisfied with the rental company.
Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by lovely Danny and introduced to our car. It had everything we needed for 3 weeks traveling around NZ. We had a problem with a flat tire on the way and even though it was Christmas, Ross immediately got off the phone and helped to solve the problem. Our 4 week experience with CamperCo,
December, 19th 2023-January15th 2024
To get a good rate I started looking for a campervan for our 4 week New Zealand trip via the Rankers site in early 2023. After receiving a few offers, Ross from CamperCo got back to me with a great offer. As we had our little daughter (1 1/2 years old) with us, the safety and functionality of the campervan was of course our top priority. As we had so many questions, I asked Ross regularly and the communication was always fast and very professional. So we decided in favour of the offer from CamperCo.
We were picked up personally by Ross at Christchurch airport and after a short drive we arrived at the depot.
Our rented Toyota High Top Camper was already waiting for us and after a brief explanation and the installation of the baby seat, we were able to roll out of the yard and begin our adventure. We had no problems the whole time, the interior was clean and everything you need for a trip was there. Dropping off the campervan was also uncomplicated, as Auckland does not have its own station, the drop-off point is at a guarded airport car park, from where you can be taken to the airport free of charge.
Thank you Ross and CamperCo for making our trip such a special experience. We will definitely be back.

Our camper was great.
Although small sized moter she climbed every hill put to her. Heaps of storage in it which was a surprise. Ross has been great to deal with, recommend taking the insurance offered as I had a woopsee and was so glad I took this option.Had a great two weeks in the camper.

Rented a Mercedes sprinter camper for a few weeks and had a good experience.
Everyone involved was easy to communicate with.
The van was in good condition and had everything we needed.
There was a small issue with the vans fan, they immediately offered to organise a fix but I declined as I didn't want to change my plans to do it. Instead they offered to refund me some money which was acceptable. Felt like if there was a more serious issue they definitely would have sorted me out. At the end Ross asked me to drop the van at the garage as he was clearly going to have it fixed straight away and then offered to drop me wherever I needed to go. I would definitely recommend and rent from them again.

Superb experience with CamperCo for our Toyota esthima van rental for 25 days on the South Island!
The car was in very good condition and very well equipped. All necessary equipment was included in the price (chair, table, stove, etc.). They even lent us a second stove to cook faster and a tent, at no extra cost! On the day of check-out, not needing the van until the next day, Ross allowed us to keep the van until late at no additional cost. We are very happy to have booked our van with Ross and CamperCo!

Pick-up scheduled for 10 am, van not where it should have been, when found was NOT READY.
No towels, no tea towels, no broom ( bought these out of our own pocket, lost receipts)bed linen NOT sealed in plastic (was it fresh?), handoff very cavalierly done, no office space or any other permanent site (???). Christchurch was behind us when we found the tank was just about empty! Unforgivable considering the dire consequences threatened if it's not returned full! When we called were told that turn-around had been rushed; why? Booked last JUNE, why was it not returned to the depot sooner? The money for that first fill-up was immediately returned, no problem there, but this is not something you expect of a rental company! The inside of the van was reasonably clean, not so the outside. Mechanically the van was in good shape; really liked the solar panel mounted on the roof, stove and fridge worked well. We had that van for 45 days and it never let us down. There is no depot in Auckland either; the company looking after this aspect - Euro Camper - inspected and signed off, but do they really care about the little things that didn't work? We found it somewhat strange that even a small company wouldn't have a permanent location with at least one dedicated staff member! Ross did remind everyone of the census that was held and was generally helpful in case of questions but you just couldn't shake the feeling that things had been done in a rush and therefore left you wondering whether they had been done right. We are not looking to get anyone in trouble but the administrative side -for lack of a better word - of CamperCo leaves a lot to be desired. Whether our experience was a one-off or happens regularly is beside the point, customers place their trust in a company and deserve the time it takes to get them safely on the road!
Thanks for hiring with us and thanks for your feedback which we welcome - good or otherwise. It seems the van went well, had everything onboard that is supposed to be there, and we were there when you needed us to answer any questions, so that's great!
We are a small NZ owned and operated company. We don't have dedicated sign written depots which allows us to keep our prices very competitive - in all our years of operation we have not had anyone point this out as a negative. In Christchurch you'll meet me, in Picton you'll meet Mike, in Nelson you'll meet Alan. In Queenstown & Auckland we (along with a few other camper hire companies) use agents as this is the only way we can affordably offer those locations. If a dedicated sign written depot with uniformed staff is important to you then a smaller company is not the right fit.
We picked you up from your accommodation in town and drove you directly to your van. It was a tight turn-around, and the guys still had 10 minutes of work to do to get it fully ready. On the rare occasion a van isn't quite ready, we would rather the customer wait a short time than to rush & send out a van that isn't fully ready. When you left your van was fully clean, safe and ready to go. We don't supply towels in that model as there is no shower, as per the list of inclusions on our website when you book. Yes the linen was fresh and clean. No, it wasn't sealed in plastic as this is not industry practice and is environmentally unfriendly.
As mentioned we welcome and value all feedback so thanks for taking the time to write a review. We've looked back over our correspondence. Aside from a 10 minute wait at pick-up, and the tank not being full (immediately fixed) I'm really not quite sure what else we did wrong. Maybe a smaller style company is just not for you, and that's OK, everyone is different. Next time you may like to try one of the bigger commercial companies instead. It was really nice to meet you and all the very best, Ross.

CamperCo rented us a Mercedes motorhome for the duration of our 5 week road trip around NZ!
The van was reliable, spacious, safe, and extremely convenient. Ross picked us up from the Christchurch airport and took us to CamperCo where the van was ready. The service and communication with Ross was exceptional. Similarly, on drop off in Auckland the handover was seamless and a free shuttle to the airport was provided. We had absolutely no trouble with the van on our 6000km one-way trip and would highly recommend CamperCo to any future travellers looking for a motorhome hire in NZ!!

We just returned our campervan rented from Camperco and had an awsome time during our 6 week holiday.
The Camperco crew was wonderful. We had a little accident with the campervan but they handeled things very quickly and we were on the road again in less than 30 minutes. Their service was very good and told us not to worry. That was very comforting. Highly recommended if you wish to rent a campervan.

I inquired about a sleepervan for Dec 23/ Jan 24.
Natasha was quick to respond and the vans seem to be in good condition. We were promised a van, however, after about a week, we learnt that in the meantime all vans were rented out without her knowledge. So, their internal communication seems to lack at times. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience, all my questions were answered and that really fast.

Excellent Campervan Hire company in Aotearoa / NZ.
Rented a Toyota Estima Sleepervan, picked it up at Auckland airport and returned at Picton ferry terminal. Very easy to drive, no advertising on the side of the van, cheaper than other companies, mechanically sound, spacious inside, supplied with a tent, bedding, gas cooker, cooking gear, USB charger etc and really good communications throughout the whole process. A very good all round deal that gives you great flexibility to go where you want when you want. Highly recommended.

We booked a Caravan with Ross during April.
He was there for us 24/7, to guide us through everything and answer all of our questions. We couldn't expect more. Super professional and friendly. We even asked to send us groceries we bought prior to renting the Caravan and Ross did it and didn't even ask to cover the shipping costs.

We rented a Hi-top camper van from Camperco for 11 weeks and all I can say is "Wow".
We had an awesome time and the campervan was perfect for us.
We picked up the campervan in Christchurch and spent 7 weeks on South Island and then another 4 weeks on the North Island. The time on the south was just right - it allowed us to go everywhere we wanted (which was everywhere from the Caitlin's to Abel Tasman and both coasta) without rushing and keeping driving to a min. The north was similar in that we covered the island except for the cyclone damaged Napier/Hawks Bay area.
The van itself was just perfect for our needs. The fridge was larger than expected. The solar panel works so well that we had no problem not plugging in for days at a time (lots of sun from late-January to mid-April). We often did not put away the bed and used the table and chairs for hanging out. This is key - some people we met with other types of campervans could not use their kitchen without putting away the bed first.
The lack of a shower was really not an issue for us. We did stay at holiday parks every few days to shower, do laundry, etc.. And the van has a toilet but we found that even most "freedom" campgrounds have toilet facilities.
Camperco were responsive whenever we reached out. We did get a rock wedged into a wheel (made a terrible noise) and Ross found us a mechanic and took care of it.
We are still basking in the memories of this 3 month trip. We would absolutely have done the same places, same time split between south and north islands, same camper van and certainly would have chosen Camperco again.

We chose CamperCo initially because of the prices and the value for money we found from doing our research put them head and shoulders above other camper van hire companies at the time we booked.
The pick up from Picton was smooth. Mike and Melissa were very friendly and relaxed with the drop off and pick up. They were also flexible when we needed to change the drop off location to the ferry port in order for us to catch our ferry.
One thing I would suggest is that the guys in Picton make sure they have gone over everything with the van upon pick up. I found myself asking lots of questions about things that I’m sure went without saying but because it was my first time renting a van I didn’t really know anything and wasn’t given that much by the guys who dropped it. For example - they showed me all the basics, which was great but emptying the grey water water, refilling the LPG were both things that I had to work out for myself just because I wasn’t aware that those things were needed to be done!
Don’t let that overshadow what an amazing experience we had. The communication from Ross was very helpful and Mike & Melissa were extremely pleasant and accommodating. I was just a bit of a rookie when it came to Van life!
As for the van itself. What an amazing vehicle. I’m not a small bloke so being able to stand up in the high top and walk around and have space (esp in the rain!) was a real treat. It drove well, was well kitted out and looked the part!
I was especially impressed at all the additional bits and bobs that were included; map, anti-bug candle, solar powered fridge, all the electronic attachments, awning, table and chairs, bed sheets & pillows, it was just the works and I could not have asked for more!

Hired a small camper from Camperco for four weeks in Feb ‘23.
Excellent communication from Ross before we picked the van up and very efficient at collection, transferring us from the airport to the depot. The van was well equipped and the small issues we identified were quickly resolved. Great tips and advice from Ross and continued support throughout our trip. Drop off again efficient and easy. All in all an unforgettable trip to the beautiful islands of New Zealand made so much better by our little van. Thanks everyone.

CamperCo were great!
My partner and I hired the HiTop Campervan and travelled the south island for 18 days and we couldn't of been more happier. The pick up/drop off was easy as with Laddi in QT, the van was super clean and tidy and drove great. We do plan on visiting NZ again for another road trip, and we already know who we'll be hiring through.. CamperCo!

The van provided is Perfect to enjoy new Zealand without struggling with parking. The price is, compared with other companies, really fair and the guys running the company are professionals: Any demand was quickly and uncomplicated answered.

This was our first experience renting a Campervan, and Camperco made it easy and painless.
The Hi-Top Toyota van we rented did not give us any issues and was clean, comfortable, and well laid-out. We obtained many quotes for our itinerary and Camperco was extremely competitive price-wise, and most importantly, the company does not nickel & dime you like many van rental companies. Also a plus, Camperco's vans have no logos which is great if you don't want to stick out like a tourist. Ross was really nice and helpful. Will rent again given the opportunity!!

Everything was great with our weeklong sleepervan rental!
Ross made the booking process easy and returned our emails promptly. Mike was easy to spot when we stepped off the ferry in Picton. He took the time to explain the van's features, answered all questions, and gave us a way to reach him should we have further inquiries. Our van was clean and performed wonderfully over great distances and challenging terrain, even with 477,000+ km on the odometer! We’re grateful for all of the wonderful memories in New Zealand it helped us create on our honeymoon. We would absolutely rent from CamperCo again!

Hired a Mercedes Sprinter campervan to tour the NZ picking up in Auckland and dropping off on Christchurch.
Fabulous service and nothing too much trouble. Couple of minor issues with the van but all sorted quickly and easily couldn't of asked for more. Can performed really well on the roads, including in and out of the winding roads to Milford Sound. Wouldn't hesitate to use Camperco again.

Campervan (2006 Toyota Estima X) was adequately maintained.
Price was very reasonable. Starter motor went dead (these things can happen, can't fault Camperco for it). Ross made a next-day appointment for me to get it replaced and paid for it directly. Aside from that, that van served me well for 10 weeks (approx 12k kms). Didn't get any hidden charges on my credit card. Highly recommend this company to people who want to hire a small campervan on a budget. Absolute legends!

We rented the HiTop campervan for a week with pickup in Picton and drop off in Queenstown.
Having different pickup/drop off options allowed us a lot more flexibility on the South Island which was fantastic.
The process was super easy and Mike in Picton explained every aspect of the vehicle so we felt confident at the beginning of the trip.
The van was extremely clean and equipped with all the amenities we were expecting (although no microwave as shown in the pictures but this wasn't included in the vehicle description so all good). The bedding was super clean and comfortable, the dark curtains allowed for privacy and a good sleep, and the small kitchen with lots of storage was perfect for two people.
We loved the extra chairs so we could have breakfast outside the van (when we didn't feel like putting the bed away!) and the storage above the bed and drivers area were very convenient and helped make the van feel very spacious. Lots of USB outlets for charging your devices while both driving and parked as well as a phone mount so you can navigate while driving.
The van was a little slow on the hills but that was to be expected and let us enjoy the beautiful scenery a bit more. We had to fill up the tank 2.5x which seemed reasonable based on how far we drove and how mountainous the landscape is.
Overall, I highly recommend renting the HiTop campervan. Communication with the team was seamless and any questions we had were always answered. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

Great outfit.
It was my 2nd time renting from them. Excellent/ timely communication with Ross. Pick up went amazingly well despite having to pick up the van after hours. Laddi/Nick went out of their way to organize the after hours pick up in Queenstown. Laddi was even waiting for me at the depot at 9 PM!!! The only outfit in NZ that I know of that have diesel heaters n their van. With this no need for power hook up/ great for freedom camping; cold NZ nights. I also like the fact that their camper don’t have any advertisement/ identification; much better for stealth camping on the street. Great rates as well.

We had the high top campervan for 8 nights between 22 Sep to 30 Sep.
The van ran like a dream and had everything to keep us sorted on the road and on our adventures. The charging from solar & second battery was awesome and kept all of our devices charged throughout, we didn't even have to plug into a powered campsite. Ross was super helpful and was quick to communicate. The booking, pick up and drop off processes were flawless. Pricing was very affordable and beat all the others we looked at. Would 200% hire from CamperCo again.

Nick and Ross were very helpful in our rental experience.
They were generous and responsive when we had issues, and helped us make the most of our trip! Much better than renting from a large company where you won’t get that kind of attention. Our van was great and became our home for a month, and putting aside that nothing in New Zealand is insulated, we had a great trip.
