Information

Queen Charlotte Drive

The 40km's between Havelock and Picton offers one of the most scenic drives you're likely to encounter.

Make sure you leave enough time to make plenty of stops along the way, the drive passes through many stunning little bays, and there are plenty of photo opportunities.

You should stop at the lookout near the Havelock end of the road. The view out across the sounds from this spot at Cullens Point is breathtaking. Keep your eyes out for bikes as they also like this route.

Lovely drive, great lookouts. Beautiful scenery. Better for the passengers than driver as the road is very windy. Thank wotsit for power steering and auto box! Just make plenty of stops to enjoy the views.

The drive between Picton and Havelock is very scenic and beautiful.

It is a bit windy with a big campervan but worth the effort.

    Beautiful scenery at every time.

Bathrooms and camping spots are plentiful. Only downfall would be the winding roads for those who get car sick.

Off the beaten path so make sure you have at least half a tank of gas and a stomach for gravel roads.

    EPIC!

    Stunning landscape!

We had several breaks at the lookout points and enjoyed the beautiful views. But quite a lot of turns/bends and sometimes steep!

Very nice view of the Marlborough Sounds.

The track has a lot of shadows, which is good. The end is not that spectacular as the way itself.

If you are driving yourself, take this road in the direction of Nelson, if you can wake up early and hit the road before a lot of others do.
