Time: 2 hr return
In 1929 a massive earthquake rocked New Zealand's terra firma. The extent of the damage was huge, but luckily there really were not too many people living close to the epicentre at the time.
The highlight of the Johnson's Creek Track is the evidence of a large slip where 18 million cubic meters of soil damned the river however, this slip is not too noticeable today and the new course that the river has taken is perfect for whitewater kayaking.
Return to the carpark the way you came.
