Good kitchen and bed, old vehicle.

The service from this small and helpful company was second to none.
A lovely little van provided a great base to explore the worlds best scenery - without question! I would highly recommend that anyone wishing to travel without paying huge bucks should try this family run business first.
Although the vans are not brand new they are well presented and provide for all your needs. Help in planning the trip is available from Go Wild who can point you at the "Not to be missed" areas to ensure you get the most enjoyment from your trip. Excellent value for money and highly recommended!

We have recently returned from New Zealand and had a marvelous holiday there.
We would like to recommend Go Wild to anyone wanting to tour in NZ. This company is extremely flexible, making it possible to obtain the vans in Auckland, Christchurch, Picton or Nelson at no extra charge. We throughly enjoyed the trip, the vans were easy to drive, comfortable and clean. The couple running the company were most helpful and friendly and they did everything to ensure our comfort. Lovely!

In comparism to a similar van in Austalia, I was really impressed with this company.
Mainly for the person we dealt with (Gaylene). She ws informative, knew about the van and spent about 2 hours with us. She gave us more than we needed. When we broke down, it was handled promptly.

Good value cheap campervans.
But they charge the same price for the old vans as they do for newer ones.

Our experience with Go Wild Campervans has left a very bad taste in our mouths.
We have never had an experience quite like it and we have travel throughout the world, using operators and rental companies in dozens of countries. The total lack of customer support or commitment on the part of Simon Whittaker and his staff has never been paralleled in our experience and we really hope we never have to endure a company like his again.
We had to terminate our holiday early due to the stress that we were feeling on a daily basis due to the state of the vehicle we hired. We had to deal with dozens of mechanics, have had to find appropriate services ourselves, with no help from Go Wild. Even when we drove to their base town, Nelson, we were still told to look around ourselves to find an auto electrician to fix a broken fridge. We had to find someone to deal with malfunctioning stereos, leaks that let in rain and dust, holes in the floor, draining batteries, cold, damp, draughty vehicles that were unsafe - window wipers that didn't work, front wheels totally out of balance, windows that would not close and items missing that were included on their website http://www.gowildcampervans.co.nz such as sheets.
We spent hours on the phone with Simon, who dodged, denied, expressed disbelief, avoided any responsibility and simply didn't seem to care about what was happening to our holiday.
We feel that our vacation was ruined. Our money has not being refunded for terminating the rental and we have not being compensated for the repairs we had to do, nor the days wasted getting the repairs done. We would advise against this company to anyone and we wish we had never being sent to them in the first place.

Expensive and outdated.
If it went through an MOT in the UK it would fail. 10 year old heap of junk that would be better viewed under the sea.

At the pickup point at Auckland on 9 February for a trip to South Island, we found that our Ford Econovan registration number RO 7178 had two near-bald and certainly illegal tyres which were replaced reluctantly
by the company, only when I advised them that I was a retired Scottish police officer. We declined their quite bizarre offer to get new tyres fitted ourselves en route and at their expense!
The clapped out engine involved constant use of lower gears even on minor hills with everyone and his dog overtaking us, plus constantly intrusive engine rev noise. Fuel consumption was horrendous (five refills between Auckland and Christchurch), and the smell of petrol fumes was a constant companion. Ascending the likes of Arthur’s Pass would have been probably only accomplished in reverse gear as per the classic dunes scene in the war film “Ice Cold in Alex”.
The interior was elderly (acceptable) but unclean (not). The securing lock was broken on the sliding side windows and the pre-damaged ignition key snapped in normal use. A worn gas regulator connection had been crudely repaired with thick ‘plumbers tape’ and leaked potentially fatal fumes on being turned on.
A promised “refund” at Christchurch transpired to be nothing better than compensation for two days lost, strictly as per the hire contract. We dumped the vehicle there as patently unfit for purpose. My teacher wife’s dream retiral holiday from Scotland, was ruined. But we finally got a full refund - only after our ultimatum of immediate legal action under Health and Safety and Consumer Protection laws.
Go Wild? Never again.
