Cable car to top $5 one way, $9 return. Good walks around the gardens. The treehouse was good, although we didn’t go inside. Cafe at the top. We were glad we went in there rather than wait for the one at the bottom of the gardens. The walk down to the city past the Beehive was good. Interesting cemetery. Some quite tragic stories on headstones.

A magic place with giant trees all around of us.
We heard the song of many birds.

We took the cable car ($4 each) one way to the top and walked our way down via the gardens.
In our opinion not the most beautiful garden New Zealand has to offer but still very beautiful. If you go, make sure you walk past the duck pond. You will find free maize for to feed them (if not you can get free maize at the treehouse).

Once up the hill, the 30 to 40 minute walk will take you back down to the city.
On the top, there is an amazing view over the city and along the way down, you will see beautiful flowers and trees.
