More of a small lake than a pool.

Wooden sided but otherwise natural. Very warm at the “cold” end and piping hot (45degrees+) by the spring. About waist height all over - too deep to sit but floating with feet just touching bottom is very relaxing. $5 for seniors $7 for kids & $10 for adults.

    Toilets are horrible.

    Pity they don’t allow camping.

    This is an amazing place.

The magic of Waitangi Soda springs is the healing water of the springs. Our family has been going here for 80-90 years. The surroundings have changed over time but that doesn't matter, when you sit in these waters you will feel rejuvenated and revived. We do a 3 1/2 hr round trip when we feel like we need some nurturing and always come home feeling better.

Go for the benefits you will receive, We are grateful we can go there and the cost is so little.

There was no light on the bathing area at night and the kids couldn’t use the bathroom because it was pitch black.

The next morning my daughter told me that she left her woollen jersey there, so we went back to pick it up. When I arrived the lady said that they throw all the clothes away the next day. She said there are signs stating this (which you’re supposed to read in the dark). It was still in a cubby which would’ve been hard to see in the dark. As we left I said, “I hope you don’t actually chuck them.” She again said they do. So I said, “in this case, it’s a good quality jersey, you could recycle it or give it to someone who might need it.” But she just walked away while I was speaking, “no, no, we just chuck it” So I yelled out, “ok, I just think you could do better than that for this kind of stuff” As I was leaving a man came out of the office and approached my car. He said aggressively, “What’s your problem?!” I said “Nothing, I was just making a suggestion about giving the good clothes away to someone who might need them.” He rolled his eyes and yelled, “Yeah and then I’ll be left with piles and piles of clothes! What am I supposed to do with them?” I was a customer making a suggestion, not even a complaint, and the response was to approach me in my car full of kids and treat me like I had insulted them. I was so disturbed by his behaviour that I called him a moron and left, while he shouted, “Why don’t you come here and say that” and then they were both shouting that I was not welcome back. So to summarise: 1. The lack of lighting is a health and safety issue. 2. I still think that a nice woollen jersey can find a better home than the tip! In an area that is so naturally beautiful I thought they would care more about the environment. 3. There is NEVER EVER any reason to aggressively approach a woman and her children in her car to berate her. 4. They need lessons in customer service to learn that threatening customers is not the best way to run a business.

This place used to be free and was a fav spot of ours.

It's a nice temperature pool. Now they have placed a 'compound' around it and are charging $8 per person. The commercial 'improvements' have really detracted from what used to be a very natural feeling spot. It's a shame as a bit of thought could have made the place really fantastic.
