The biggest garden in the Garden City...
The Christchurch Botanic Gardens, enclosed by a loop of the Avon River, sit on the edge of Hagley Park in central Christchurch near the historic Arts Centre buildings.
21 hectares of horticultural displays, conservatories, memorials, garden art and walking tracks make these easily accessible gardens worth some time.
The daffodils in spring are beautiful, and the lawns are a picnicker's haven on warm summer evenings! Keep an eye out for Christchurch city's various events held here throughout the year also.

Extraordinary gardens, went there beginning of February.
You can easily spend 2-3 hours just walking around and discovering the local flora. Check out the begonias house. A must see if you are visiting Christchurch!

Great place with an even better playground.
From toddlers to 12 years. Great place. You can visit the gardens even in bad weather. Some are inside and very warm. But still..... you need to love nature. If you don't, spend your time somewhere else.

Great gardens.
Well designed. I always visit botanic gardens whenever I travel to get an overview of the country. This was interesting because they do not seem keen on weeding! Convolvulus, goose grass and other perennial weeds in evidence.
