We paid 17.50 per person for a non-powered site.

I’m rating the camper van park and not the hotel proper.

The water pressure in the only shower is absolutely abysmal. It’s generous to call it a shower. Also be careful, if you touch the tap you might burn your hand after the shower has been running.

The gate you need to lock and unlock yourself with a padlock is a first for me, and it is sort of annoying. There is also no privacy in the spots, as the park is literally a sort of field.

There are chickens that wander through the field, and if you are a light sleeper they will wake you. They are cute though!

In general, the facilities are clean but worn.

    Very muddy and damp.

Showers and toilet badly need attention. A shame as it is a lovely spot. Hot pools were nice but expensive.

Needs more power sites and water taps throughout the camp.

Stayed here one night on our way north.

It was $20 each for a powered site so a bit steep as is very old and rundown. Was spotless though and a very friendly custodian. A flock of chooks with a rooster who will wake you at 4.30am so be ready. The hot pools are great in an amazing setting but pricey at $20 each. Although that was for the whole of our stay so you could have gone again.

We had one night here and it was lovely and quiet and even had a happy little family of chickens .

Facilities are basis but clean and we would recommend this as a good place for a quiet stop over. I didn’t try the pools but they looked great too

Camp site was kinda empty with only a van with two drunk men which made us feel a little unsafe bc they were being weirdly loud and making big fire.

But camp/desk was nice. Shower a bit rundown but the springs where lovely.

Beautiful grounds and great thermal pools onsite!

The facilities were in poor condition. The shower was hot but old and holds water at your feet.

Nice campsite, we stayed in a non-self contained camper.

Big field with a choice of spots. Free access to the hot springs which were really cool (hot actually). Perfect place to pitch up after Hobbiton. Facilities were a bit buggy, kitchen not great but at least it has one! Woman very nice at front desk and you can go get a drink at the hotel bar.

    Got what we paid for.

Beautiful scenic location with plenty of space for our tent. Toilets were average and the kitchen only had 4 hobs and no fridge. Only 5 plug points. The caretaker, Tahu, was brilliant, very friendly and happy to share his knowledge of Maori history and culture.

Great location if you want to see Hobbiton.

Stayed here our first night in NZ after going to Hobbiton as it was close.

Payed $25 pp for a powered sight which we realised later was too expensive for what we got. Has a toilet and a shower that is pretty disgusting.Theres a pub attached to the motel that looked pretty locals only and there was a guy in a Rav 4 that was fanging around. Kitchen was not very well kept but usable. Free hot spring was pretty cool though. Reception has free wifi. Overall okay stop if youve been to Hobbiton but I’d probably go somewhere else

I had recently stayed in Rotorua's Holdens campsite for $17 pppn.

But fancied a change of scenery. I have always liked Tirau so thought that I would find a campsite nearby. The facilities are shabby, no marked sites just a field. The height of my disappointment was the shower, which runs hot and cold depending on who else is using the water supply in the kitchen. All this for $25 pppn in Low season.

A powered site for 2 people costs $20.

Very cheap campsite. Especially for the North Island. Unfortunately only one shower and two toilets. Everything basic and grubby. From the shower comes only a trickle. In the man's toilet the light is broken. There is no soap in the woman's toilet. Good cost / benefit ratio.

We spent a night here after Hobbiton.

The campsite for vans is managed by the hotel, which also manages the golf course. They were super friendly. There is a restaurant and bar on site. For the campsite, there are a shower. It's a small grassy park with lots of trees. And all for $ 10 per person !! Top.
