Cozy clean campsite with a very steep entrance road.
Price for 4 People powered Motor home was 108 NZD in April 2024. Chilled and alternative Surfer vibes.

waited out the storm here and never felt unsafe or unhappy. Clean and hot showers. I bet when the weather was good the views would be brilliant.

Gorgeous place, gorgeous people.
Stayed in a motorhome on NYE. Very busy, parked in a car park spot; lots of trouble getting in and out due to too many cars parked in the driveway etc. Staff very friendly. Amazing cafe, try the iced coffee and the vegan pizza! Great facilities - large equipped kitchen, fridges, hot showers, enough toilets for everyone. 20 minute walk to beach down a steep hill. Would come back but not in a motorhome - loads of other great accomodation options but they were fully booked.

$20 per person (van power or unpowered), it's just a car park space, no grass or space for your chairs.
Beautiful terrace. Showers with low pressure. Kitchen dirty and busy all the time because it's small. Free Wifi in reception.

Lovely place, really quirky and interesting to walk around because of all the different places to stay.
The facilities were all really clean. I particularly liked the fire in the kitchen/lounge area. However, as some other reviewers have mentioned the campervan spaces are in the car park. Seeing as they'd put so much thought into all the other areas I think it'd be nice to have a nice space for the vans. On the plus side the view over the bay is stunning!

Positives: good view, well placed to walk down the cliff to ocean beach, 5 min drive to Manu point for surf.
Facilities were clean. There is a cafe, but not open when we were there.
Negatives: the four powered sites are at the end of the car park, you literally have a parking space, so when people arrive next to you late or arrive early there is no peace.
There are lots of cabins on the site, you’re in their car park, so there’s lots of coming and going, headlights, loud music playing as cars pull in or leave.
There is a toilet and shower in a hut very close, shower hot but has about 10 jets operational.
For the privilege of sleeping in a car park we paid $68 a night for three of us, complete rip off.
Wished I had gone to the free site

Eco friendly and sustainable but not sustainable to stay in!
Toilets and kitchen always dirty and outside shower facilities didn’t lock nor were hot. No cutlery in kitchen or microwave or oven. Outside kitchen not well placed as gas hobs don’t work on windy days.
Instructor didn’t turn up to yoga class so was told to just wait for the next one the day after. Surf instructor was lovely but left without us to the beach and gave us very little instruction for an 85$ lesson!
Over all do not rate this accommodation and would not recommend.

Lates 20s couple travelling around NZ for 6 weeks.
We met up with some friends from Auckland here and had an amazing time. Close to beach, great surf, lovely vibe. The yoga class was beautiful. Lots of friendly people staying here. Lovely food in the cafe but slow service. Seemed to be very overstretched.
But... Essentially staying in a car park. Hardly any space. We had no electricity hook up - seems to be luck of the draw both cost the same. After having stayed at some wonderful free sites the price just could not be justified.

We "tried" to stay at Solscape but we couldn't put hammocks in the trees (they're protected).
One of the guys drove us to a nearby campground and left us there - but there were no trees at all at that place.
We did not stay at Solscape but we went there everyday for 8 days to rent surfboards and wetsuits.
Surf lesson with Andy was awesome, well worth 85$. The following days we came in to rent gear (10$ discount if you had a lesson - 25$ instead of 35$ for half a day, which is super cheap). Some of the days, renting the gear was easy. Some other days, it became somehow difficult/impossible : lost the keys of the "surf shack", lack of boards, etc.
