I feel this place has been unfairly downgraded by previous rankers.
A young couple runs it and they are very friendly. He patiently helped me qhen i was too dumb to operate the showers. Everything that matters was clean. The toilet/shower floor wasnt. There were some longtermers, some hard done by, but i respect people who cant afford permanent housing. The lounge kitchen is great. This is a kiwiana camp, like new zealand used to be. I find that charming.

Time for owner to give the place a face lift.
Nice dog friendly camp with majority of guests being permanent.

Don't be put off by the negative reviews from pretentious folk that you may read on here.
Some people really should stay at home. For a short or overnight stay, this little place has everything you need and nothing you don't. Perfect.

I'am very upset with my stay here my first night was amazing 2nd and 3rd was horrible I ended up leaving because of another person who was residing here had very agresive loud company and the noise and
fighting continued all hours pm/am. On checking out my items of value left behind also in the rooms were not returned to me at all and I have not received any answers as to what has happened with my items. Just recently 25-05-2022 cold wet night I've re booked again even after my bad experience with prior stay I've booked yesterday and paid in full. I was about to be given the key then told by another staff member I was not welcome without any reason and refunded me what I paid I asked a reason and was told management said so I asked if I could please speak with management to get an understanding as to why I was not aloud to stay with this place. I was not at all a problem during my previous stays I was tidy quiet and followed all ruels. I believe i'am being punished for this camp grounds other residents company and i'am very upset I would like further answers please

Good location, possible to walk to town but not close.
Toilets and showers clean but had a school camp feel. 7.5 minute hot water limit was plenty. Kitchen dining and lounge area was a nice set up but I have to agree with the last review that it was a bit smelly. Friendly people and very friendly white cat. Not especially child friendly as no playground and not much space to play.

Just avoid!...
grotty little camp and not that close to the city, still a fair walk there and back. Dirt or grass sites. No paths so muddy shoes in your van. Ugly, run down surroundings. Only 2 showers for women but men had 3 so queues in the morning and temperature fluctuated wildly. Fairly clean though Kitchen a bit smelly. Recycling and rubbish bins full to the brim. $40 for 2 on a powered site was not value for money at all. One of the worst camps we’ve stayed in on our travels in South Island.
