    What a gem.

Got that old style country-NZ feel to it. It sits in the council sportsground reserve, uses the same facilities. Well equipped kitchen, super clean, great showers. Chances are there won't be anyone at reception, you call the number on a sign taped to the door and a friendly lady who must live close by pops over and attends. Must be the best value cabins in NZ - due to a pricing anomaly, its $33 per person, regardless of how many of you there are. 2 of us, we had one each, it was about -4 that night and it would have been miserable in tents. Cabins are small and basic but new and clean. There must have been 3 or 4 people in Omakau who all volunteered the information that if we wanted a meal at the pub, we had to book. It was pretty busy - lot of rail trail riders there I guess. Great meal. Overall one of those experiences that just buoys you along, on a road trip.

Showers 2$ for 6 minutes..... for me an honest price because you really got your 6 minutes!

Washing machine 3$ and hot washing ......👏👏👏

    Owners are kind and helpful.

Perfect spot if you’re bicking the Otago Rail

Overnight parking by a river on solid ground with plenty of bird sounds, it is Just over the river bridge from the village so easy to wander into the village in an evening.

No one else here so ideal spot as off the tourist track. No facilities.

Brilliant site thanks to other reviewers for helping us pick this one!

V good value with spotless facilities and generous $2 showers, plenty of trees for shade and excellent children's play park. A short walk to hire bikes for Otago Rail Trail including trailers and tag-alongs, we headed towards Auripo including welcome delicious (NB cash or eftpos only) cafe stop at Lauder.

Great spot to end our first day on the Otago Central Rail Trail cycle.

Shuttled one of our party back to get the camper. Big site, big sky, friendly staff and other campers. Showers are $2 for six minutes- clean and spacious facilities. Easy walk into town. Looks like there are small sleeping cabin for hire too.

Stayed 2 nights in a campervan Feb 2017.

Really loved this place, $25 for 2 adults on a powered site. Loads of room, friendly warden, good clean facilities, bargain price. What more do you need?

Also handy for the Central Otago Rail Trail, SheBikesHeBikes on the mainstreet will take you north 30k for the ride back over the best bits (mostly downhill).

    Large camping area.

Strange that a powered site is $25 for 2, whereas a tent site is $30. Owner not very friendly or helpful. Showers $2. Kitchen with fridge/freezer and oven.

Tried to find a decent camping ground in Alexandra without success.

So drove the 26ks back to Omakau for one of the best camping grounds we have come across on this trip. Ended up staying two nights and doing day trips. The managers were friendly and helpful. Well equipped and very clean.

Great little site, great facilities, large kitchen, flat pitches, best showers I have been in yet in our three month tour.

Friendly owners and a lovely quiet site with just a few touring cyclists stopping for a night at a time. We used this site to stay at whilst we went mountain biking in Alexandra as the site there has really poor reviews!

Big campground, the sport field is included in the camping area, big kitchen facilities and playground.

Shower cost extra $2 for 7 minutes. The office is located directly next to the toilet/shower block, therefore felt on constant watch when going there.

    Nice, well run little site.

After a long drive we found the facilities clean and tidy. Well appointed kitchen area fully equipped, laundry was reasonable value per wash and dry. Quiet when we were there - the joy of travelling out of season I suppose. Handily located for access to the Rail Trail
