Easy to find up a short gravel track, no problem in our VW camper.
Hardly anyone else there, we had a field virtually to ourselves + the free running chickens who were super friendly. 3 rams, a pig and 3 alpacas too. Lots of wild birds, the dawn chore was beautiful. Free hot showers, a small kitchen. Paid $10 for us to do the little thermal walk, a bit expensive but the owner was so friendly and persuasive we couldn’t say no!

A nicely located campsite with all facilities and a nice cafe.
There are many animals on the farm, but the stars are the free running chicken. The price is a bit high. We paid 80+ for 3 on an unpowered site

The walkway is not worth 10 NZD per person.

Open and operating as cafe, bar, camping, animal farm and geothermal walk.
Got hit very hard by recent storms and lots of trees down. In the process of clearing up. Powered and unpowered sites. $30 pp for unpowered. Basic kitchen. Toilets and showers. Hot water heated by an ingenious wood stove created by owner John. A brilliant geothermal wall, you are really in the middle of the thermal activity here. Alpacas, sheep, pig, chickens, duck, peacocks. So many delightful creatures. And John makes a great coffee and makes great conversation. Don't be put off by the strange road leading up to the site. It feels like you are on a logging road, but keep going.

The walk is closed but as campsites go its quaint and quirky.
I worked there for free lodgings and food as they are currently trying to recover from the storm damage so there is some nice opportunity if you fancy some hard manual labour.
John is a unique character and will take advantage of the help but he offered me breakfast, lunch, tea and ice cream and a campspot for 4 hours work.
No WiFi at the ground so if that's a major issue maybe it's not right for you but showers are wood-stove operated by John everyday so nice and toasty.
Yes, it's a farm campsite...there will be chicken poo everywhere but that's just what it is, it's not a Hilton. 🤣

Beautiful site to stay at - a little expensive at around $60ish for a powered site for one evening but the hospitality was amazing and we were happy to pay extra as they had quite a bit of damage from
the cyclone.
The owners were really friendly and welcoming. So many animals on the farm which we loved - lots of chickens, sheep, alpacas! Be careful when eating though as a chicken literally sat on my plate while I was having dinner! They are harmless though and you can wave them away.
rustic but lovely showers / toilets. Kitchen was still out of use from Covid but were able to use the sink for washing up.
Would recommend - great location when visiting Huka Falls and Lake Taupo!

Gorgeous meadow with plenty of animals and all the supplies needed.
Hot water for a shower, clear water for the van, power supply and even a cafeteria. The animals were friendly and very nice. We really enjoyed having dinner with chickens, peacocks, sheeps and llamas. Great place to go, specially after visiting the Kerosene Creeks. It's close to the Huka falls too, so a great stop in your trip. For 2 people we paid 48$ for a powered site 2 people. Maybe not the cheapest place but it's worth.

Cool place, but for the price of $28/night each for an unpowered tent site, the facilities are basic and few.
2 showers and 1 toilet for men. We were asked to use our own camp stove. Compare that with Miranda where $30 gets you way more, even hot pool access. Comparable sites often cost around $15. For example Ruapuke. It feels too much like a rip off.

I didn't know places like this still existed!....I imagine quite polarizing.
We loved it.....just like old New Zealand. Animals are just gorgeous...the baby chick's so cute....our grandchildren would just love it!
Amenities adequate and their basic essentials just added to the charm. Very friendly owners/staff and looking forward to Devonshire tea at the Cafe.
Quite pricey compared to other camp grounds but what price to pay for such a unique experience .
Would definitely come again and recommend to others. GREAT.
