We decided to stay at this working hostel to work in Blenheim and this was the best decision for us!
A van-site costs $90 per week which is totally OK. The facilities are clean. There are 3 showers which is sometimes a little bit less after work. The kitchen is combined with a TV room with lots of movies on it.
The best part about this hostel is the swimming pool for chillin' after work or on sunny days!
Only negative aspect is the near railway line and that the owner gets grumpy sometimes.
All in all a place I would recommend!

Called and emailed the day before and day of arrival and got no reply.
Arrived and was told it was for long stay only. Then why is there a daily rate advertised on the window... anyway skip this dusty place and stay at the beautiful Spring Creek 10mins away.

The booking process for this site is really unhelpful as you can only book 2 days before.
We ‘requested’ to book via their website then got got a single line email back 24 hours later saying we’re full - they need to get a better website and sort the process out as pretty useless.

we stayed here to find work and because it seemed to be the only backpackers in town with van sites.
pros:
-incredibly easy to find work
-staff is nice
-very clean, cleaned every day, awesome hot showers
-most multicultural hostel we found in nz, eg not full of germans but truly people from all over the world
-at $80 per week, cheap
-centrally located
-owner seems to be making improvements, even building a small movie room
cons:
-the goddamn train
-worst kitchen ever. shitty camping cookers that are so high up you cant see what you are cooking unless you are at least 6 feet tall. this is not an exaggeration, i am 5,6 and i could not see my food. tiny kitchen always packed until 9pm, but it closes at 10. because of this sometimes we actually cooked in our car to avoid this, which made us wonder why we paid for a site in the first place. staff told us there was a bigger kitchen but it was closed since the hostel was not full - but when we asked for our secondweek discount, we were told the discount was not available because the hostel *was* full. hmm.
- nice bbq area for summer, but the only common area otherwise is a table in a tent. when the kitchen closes, there is literally no place to be inside. the rooms are pretty nice, with tvs and fridges, but everyone living in their van was fed up. literally the only place to go to get warm was the shower, and you cannot always be in the shower! we ended up leaving blenheim largely for this reason, although we certainly didnt regret coming here.

Dirty, really crowded and facilities are very little, dirty, railway train on van site (2 meters from car window) woke us up-really scary in the middle of the night.

This campground houses a lot of seasonal workers and overcharges.
It is noisy +++ because right beside train tracks and locks you out of its facilities really early in the evening. Would not go back.
