Great little campground.
Access road is sealed all the way, and an enjoyable drive down the peninsular. Great position. No shops in the village. There is a mobile burger bar open Thursday to Sunday in the evenings. Very peaceful spot to sit back and enjoy the view.

Great place to camp if you want to rest up, fish or paddle around at high tide.
Basic facilities, clean but only 1 kitchen sink. Nice friendly camp vibe. Need sea shoes for beach. Friendly host, own small private beach at camp ground.

Great little place right on the water.
Not many others there which meant we had a very spacious site. Facilities were clean and dogs are welcome which is a bonus for us! Had fun fishing off the wharf. Just remember to bring all your own food/drink as there is not a shop down there!

Very nice little community campground.
Not too crowded, peaceful area. Great kitchen facilities, with pans, plates, cutlery (wish we’d known in advance) We didn’t try the BBQ, but was a nice space for someone to use if they wanted. Chris, who checked us in, was very friendly and helpful. Just be sure to bring all the food supplies you need with you, it was a good 30 minute drive back to the nearest store.

The setting was beautiful but the facilities are dreadful.
Toilets are old and dirty. Showers again are dirty. If you are fully self contained then great place. No shops so take everything. Small campsite.

AMAZING PLACE.
Very worth the money. Clean. Organised. Lots of camping spots. Extremely nice owner. The son of the owner (I presume) was there while we were checking out and was of so much help to us - where to go, what to see, traffic areas to avoid, best places to find work. Really lovely guy with genuine personality towards customers.
Kitchen, bbq area was a dream. Very basic but everything needed to enjoy cooking.
Bathrooms were always kept clean. The showers as well.
Although the showers were hot and clean, they cost $1 per use. (Which is more than reasonable!).
Only negative was how short it was. Pretty sure it was 4 minutes, which isn’t really enough time. Not an issue at all with paying but LADIES heads up if you have long hair to wash or enjoy showers over 5 minutes....bring a few dollars with you so you’re not cut off mid condition!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Was one of the best so far and have been camping for a few weeks now all over the North Island.

Best campsite we have stopped at!
Chris was very friendly, even let us borrow his fishing rods after showing us how to use them! Really nice guy and frosty too, nothing is too much hassle for these guys! They have a food van next door where you can get amazing hotdogs and chips! Very reasonable price too!
The facilities are modest, but they are more than adequate! Everything you need in the kitchen. And everything is cleaned. Hopefully we will stop here again, absolutely brilliant setting! Love this place! No need to book, just turn up and find a spot!

Top place to detour to when cycle touring through.
Community owned and leased to a friendly couple. Only $12 including wifi, tv and excellently equipped kitchen facilities. Showers additional means not a ten. Lots of pitch space.

A quaint community camping ground right on the water.
Manager is very welcoming and friendly. We were the only people there the night we stayed. Facilities are okay, but a bit dated, but in a funny way it adds to the ambience of the place. Good value for $12pp pn.

Nice little site on the water.
Reasonably priced and with reasonable toilets and showers, The managers are very friendly and it is a welcoming place to stay. That said it has a rather rundown feel as does the village where there are a lot of houses for sale. A great place to stay if you plan to visit the excellent Kauri Museum.

Lovely little campsite only one of two sites we spent more than one night at in our two month trip.
Would recommend has everything you could need and right next to the beach, doesn't quite get a ten due to slightly outdated facilities. You more than get what you pay for however.

The owners Paula and Wayne were very kind.
They made the experience fantastic. My first fishing experience ever was great and unique. They cooked me all kind of fish dishes they knew and we had a nice evening.
The campsite next to the water was nice because of the view, nice weather etc.
Still three years later I remember this experience and smile when I look back at that time.
Thank you Paula and Wayne!!

Come and see the real NZ life.
The camping is situated in a lovely bay and has lush grass on its ground. Showers and toilets are clean and good.
Both campowners are extremely nice and welcoming people and very helpful. Just like the other inhabitants of the bay. Just go fishing on the pier or visit the local shop.
This is the kind of Kiwi you expect to find.
