There are a lot of nice walks in this area.
You have a nice view to the mountains if the weather is good. We were little bit unlucky with the weather conditions.

2 hour long beautiful track going through different landscapes.
Forest and wonderful view of Mount Ruapehu covered with snow. Really nice falls and riverbed.

Even for non Lord of the Rings freaks this is a great swiming location and nice waterfall
