Jackie was super lovely at Otautu campsite, we rocked up later afternoon where she very kindly put us up in a unit for the price of tenting on a non powered site, as the weather was supposed to be rubbish
for the night (which it was) so she wasn’t up all night worrying about us. Beautiful place right next to the water. Super welcome, everything was clean too - 10/10 would recommend and we will be back!

We only stayed one night March 20th.
We arrived without booking at around 6.0pm and the staff were very welcoming. I don't think you would get away with just turning up peak season. We had a powered site for one night and it was a lovely simple place to stay, the place wasn't overly busy, mainly locals there for fishing, who seemed surprised to see us. Very relaxing.

Wir waren für eine Nacht dort.
Viel Auswahl an Plätzen. Oft auch mit Tischen versehen. Es ist ruhig, hat warme Duschen und am Meer gelegen. Wir waren happy mit unserem Bus

We booked for one night and stayed for two.
Beautiful place to stay, kids spent all their time at the beach. Very helpful owners and staff who picked an easy spot to park our caravan, hot showers for $1, patchy internet service but who cares!! We will definitely be back, it’s a magical place.

We stayed for 2 nights, had a site right on the beach which was amazing.
The hosts are friendly and welcoming. The showers were nice and hot, and the bathrooms were tidy. Our puppy was welcomed and enjoyed running along the beach. Would 110% stay again, loved our time!!

Sehr großer Campingplatz mit 4 großen Bereichen, dort steht man dicht zusammen.
Kurz nach Weihnachten ist der Platz randvoll. Zur Weihnachtszeit kostete der Platz ca. 17 $ pro Person inkl. Strom.
Auf Area 4 sind die Stellplätze direkt am Strand und etwas windgeschützter, was bei den Winden in der Otautu Bay durchaus sinnvoll ist. Die Toiletten und Duschen sind sauber - die 3 Minuten Warmwasserdusche funktionieren auch ;-)
Für eine Nacht war's ok...definitiv kein Highlight - aber einer der wenigen Campingplätze in der Nordspitze der Coromandel Halbinsel, die gut über wenig Schotterstraße erreichbar sind.

Spent 2 weeks tent camping on a non powered site.
Lovely setting with the bay and good fishing for boats big and small. Only negatives is the shower block only gives you a short 3 min shower for 50c coin and it takes 1.5 min till the hot water comes out so short 1.5 min shower. Also care taker that was not apart of the normal management who camps by the shower block is very unfriendly and moaned and told out 5 years old daughter off when she when to shower after a swim in the sea. It is a pity small things like this ruin a nice camping spot. This camp ground is also prone to a lot of wind speaking to other regular campers so make sure your tent is up to it. Would recommend Atautu bay for a family camp, just a pity about the other small things that they need to improve on. Like longer shower time. Friendly staff (temporary staff).
