The Village Theatre Society Inc. is a non-profit organisation that has been providing the people of Golden Bay with an entertainment venue since 1987.

In summer, the little venue packs out with visitors from all over the world taking in the biggest blockbusters, while on cold winter nights it warms the locals with varied programme of the latest releases, piano recitals and live theatre. No matter the season, the special experience is loved by all who treasure the mix of comfy second-hand sofas, beanbags and a traditional intermission as a unique counterpoint to the urban multiplex.

But our cosy theatre is no relic of the past. Over the years, thanks to the efforts of our community, the blend of high tech and whimsy has been refined to embrace cinematic digital wizardry while keeping the venue’s off-beat vibe alive. Come and enjoy our state of the art surround system whilst relaxing on one of our comfy couches.

Tickets and Bookings

We recommend phone bookings for the more popular movies, and ask people to collect their booked tickets twenty minutes prior to the movie’s screening time. Simply phone the Theatre (03 525 8453) and leave a message with your name and the number of tickets you require.

Seats are not allocated for films or live performances, please arrive early to choose your seat.
