Tukotu 2 was a wonderful small boat(8 persons) 24 hr.

Tukotu 2 was a wonderful small boat(8 persons) 24 hr. experience in Doubtful Sound. We had such a memorable time starting with Mandy's welcome at the Real terminus and being handed over to Jen and Fjord for safekeeping and guiding for the following 24 hrs. of awesome cruising. Information, wonderful fjord experiences, amazing food, catching and preparing crayfish and fresh off the line sea perch, divine sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce to invite proposals; cooked breakfast worth waking up for at 6:30 and the personality of lady Doubtful (aptly named) to make it all worthwhile. The weekend left us breathless, shoes dried in the engine room and rocked to sleep with the sound of rain mixed with cascading water.....doesn't get much better, especially in a small group experience--a wonderful 36 hr. dinner party with a diverse group with whom it was a pleasure to share the time, vistas and adventures.

    Southern Secret…..

in Doubtful Sound! How apt a name for the Cruise that reveals the most amazing natural landscape up close and personal in luxurious comfort through the wild region of Fiordland. The whole experience from start to finish was managed with efficiency and grace. Every stage of the journey flowed effortlessly and the crew were excellent at creating a personal experience, offering excellent service whilst creating a sense of participation. Experiencing the shore line of Doubtful Sound from the perspective of a Kayak is absolutely amazing…..and so is the hot shower and wonderful Roast Dinner when you come back on board! A must do!

Spent a special birthday aboard Southern Secret with some great friends.

I am in the tourism business myself and would rate this trip 10.5 out of 10 if I could! The crew, John, JR and Jen were absolutely brilliant, we wanted for nothing. The boat was well set up, warm and very comfortable, the food was superb. A great way to get a taste of Fiordland.Top marks Fiordland cruise, you are a credit to NZ tourism!

This cruise was absolutely fantastic - the highlight of my holiday.

We has 3 separate dolphin encounters and saw the most beautiful scenery. The trip across Lake Manapouri was very scenic and the coach over to Doubtful was great for photo stops but obviously the cruise on Doubtful was the highlight. We went around all the various arms of the fiord with Daz, the skipper, explaining the geography and history of the area with lots of interesting stories. He even let me steer for a bit! The MV Friendship offered great views with a nice interior with plenty of windows plus upstairs, front and rear open-air viewing. Both staff were very friendly and extremely well-informed. We had free, tasty and healthy food coming out our ears. They pulled up cray-pots so we had 3 crays between 4 guests so our entre in the evening was crayfish pasta with honey, chili and garlic plus a crayfish and lettuce salad, all freshly prepared on board. The main (a selection of cold meats, salad and garlic fried spuds) was lovely too but Yvette (the host) struggled to get us to stop fishing! We caught a lot of small perch plus 3 good sized ones so had pan-fried perch with olive oil and lemon pepper from breakie! Bunks were narrow but surprisingly comfy and cosy with towels provided and even a mint on the pillow! Wonderful all round.
