Information

Kepler Track

Time: 3 - 4 days, Distance: 60 km

The Kepler Track is another of Fiordland's iconic walks. A 60km round trip that takes 3-4 days but traveller feedback suggests that if you are fit it can be done in less. It involves a steep climb and fantastic alpine views on the tops. Enjoy.

If you are a bit worried about walking on your own, there are several guiding companies that offer great services.

    • Very wet going over the ridge.
    • Nice walk.
    • Campsites expensive but for a Great Walk normal.

Beautiful place to hike for 1/2 a day.

Beginning on the Rainbow Bridge. Beware of sandflies.

We made a day hike to Luxmore Hut!

It was an amazing walk, just the times on the signs were not correct (we needed 3.5 hours instead of 6).

Very challenging and rewarding, once you pass the treeline the views are beyond amazing.

The huts provide the warmth and comfort you need to rest your aching legs.

    Very good walk!

Wonderful views..... but not so much at the lookout.

Unfortunately I could not complete the loop because of bad weather but the part between the control gates and Luxmore Hut were worth the trip.

The view from the top is absolutely wonderful, the track is well marked, the hut is quite comfortable. I just do not understand why we had to pay for a bed before we left Te Anau, as there is not guarantee of a bed on arrival.....

It was planned as a three day trip, but we did it in two days.

    Easier than we thought.

Too much expense for this trek.

There is a better trek for free.

Pleasant, well maintained but treebound. Not enough viewing spots.

Wonderful track with heaps of various terrains.

The only downside was the fact there was only one campsite and the huts were fully booked - a lot of walking for us!! Awesome views though.
