Glenorchy Walkway

Time: 1 hr loop track

Glenorchy Walkway offers excellent opportunities to view bird life, including black swans, as its boardwalk traverses wetlands just north of Glenorchy. A great family walk ideal for picnics with views of Mt Earnslaw / Pikirakatahi.

Great little walk, beautiful scenery, very well kept, signs cute and helpful with turtle and rabbit comparison for speed.

You are often alone, the way is cute and if you like photography, many spots with different form (relief) and colour and animals.

Perfect for time with silence, nature and pictures.

We could see the mountain with snow on the top and the walk was easy and well maintained.

    Very nice walk in wetlands.

Ok so this is more than the walkway.

Take the drive to Lord of The Rings filming sites around the area and up into Diamond Lake you can imagine Isengard, take the walk to Lake Sylvain through the moss covered Forrest. You will need the LoTR guide. Nothing is signposted. We went on to Greenstone Station over 3 river fords and back Don't worry they are mild. Freedom camped on the lake by 25 mile bridge. This was a "10" day.

Beautiful walk in a location which is stunning even by New Zealands standards.

Easy walking. The drive up the lake was as spectacular as the walk. Good village pub after!!
