Information

Twin Kauri Track

approx 1.5 km return | 30 minutes return

These adolescent kauri could have a parent/child relationship. Because a kauri seed doesn’t travel far from its parent, trees are often in close proximity. But these two, do indeed, look like twins.

Walking Track

Access

The track starts from the parking bay by the Twin Kauris alongside S.H.25, 3.5km north of Tairua and 38.5km south of Whitianga.

Track

The track is uneven, but formed and clearly marked. It loops through regenerating kauri forest. The understorey is sparse, so take care following the marker triangles.

Old track not very well maintained.

Steep in parts and slippery if wet. Not much to see apart from the Kauri at the entrance. Give this a miss! Not good for kids even though it's short.

A short walk of about 30 minutes.

You must clean your gear before and after visiting.
