2 guided tour on Otago Peninsula, watching for seals + yellow eyed penguins.
Guide was prepared excellent and found the right mix between explaining and just giving time to look

Conservation of penguins habitat a priority, so the walkways are embedded into the ground and camoflaged.
Walking is easy and photos can be taken up close without disturbing the birds. We had good views of them in their shelters and the guide was v knowledgable and answered all our questions.
Well worth the money to know these endangered penguins are being cared for.

Nice walk, nice ranger explains everything, but go there in breed seasons -> otherwise just few penguins.

Before dusk, you get to see the penguins walking in from the sea waddling across the beach and climbing the hill to their nests.
So cute!

Only a few penguins can be seen, 8 in 3 hours, but nicer experience than Oamaru.

Very enjoyable as we were fortunate enough to see returning adults on the beach and also feeding young at close quarters from our hide.
However, aware that you could go and see very little. Guide knowledgeable and helpful.

Little surprising penguins encounter.

The track is very far away!
Better pay for the blue penguin colony - that was great!

in other places it's a very good experience can see them in their nest boxes. The facilities are very good and you don't disturb the penguins in all. Recommend it.

What I actually enjoyed most was the passion with which the guide spoke about the penguins and the area.
You could see that he loved his job.
