We got there at 6:50 pm and owner was grumpy because we were “ late” .
Big facilities, with game room, well stocked kitchen and sitting room pool and ping pong. Showers didn’t lock, so my friend was concerned. Can only use dump facilities if you stay 2 nights.

We were initially looking at the other holiday park in Karamea but it was closed and ended up here.
We were really happy that it worked out that way. The camp area isn't the most scenic but it makes up for it in heart and lack of sandflies. Friendly helpful hosts, the most well stocked camp with everything you need, dishes games, free pool, TV room separate dinning room heaps of space if raining etc. Short walk to 2 different pubs. Free showers and all for a very modest cost. Highly recommend as a base in Karamea.

Barry and May Chalmers we’re the nicest hosts we’ve ever met.
They were very happy to help us no matter how dumb our questions were. I feel like they’re our friends. The facilities are old fashioned, but nice. The kitchen is fully equipped. There’s a pool table and nice lounge with TV. The only thing I didn’t like were the showers. There are 2 very close together cubical in the ladies. I like more privacy. We will go back again 🙂

Do not stay here!
Although we agree with all the other postings (vintage spot next to a sports ground with a special kind of old school charm), we would NOT recommend to stay there.
We stayed at the camp ground in Jan 2015 for night. In the morning the caretaker started spraying some liquid onto the plants, especially around the spots for the camper vans. Our child of 9 month was crawling around our camper and the caretaker didn't even bother and came closer spraying his stuff. Upon asking what he is spraying he admitted without further asking that he is spraying round up.
After asking him to stop immediately, he denied and continued. Even other guests who heard our conversation asked him to stop and he refused again. He instead started to argue.
After that we wrote a letter to the council at the local I-site (I don't know whether or not they have ever received this letter).
For everybody who is unfamiliar with round up: it is an herbicide that is probably causing cancer. The WHO-owned cancer research centre just released a new classification attesting this.

The hospitality was amazing and price great at $27 for 2 with power.
The shower left a lot to be desired as no pressure and a long time to heat but many other facilities were available, dining room separate from kitchen, lounge with TV and a pool room on the side. And internet access is good all over the area.

Great place to stay with very clean facilities.
The kitchen had all pots/pans etc.. everything you need for cooking. Plus a nice dining and lounge area. I played pool there with a couple of the locals - much fun! Just $11 per night. It's worth much more.

Accommodations were fine.
Nice social room and bathrooms were clean. Nice spot on the river but you can’t see it because of a little hill (10 stair steps). The campground host was so nice and very informative. No sand flys!

Although this campsite doesnt have the looks, the facilities are good and the atmosphere is perfect.
The caretakers are super friendly and provided us with heaps of information. Good kitchen, showers, tv room, pool table, darts, heaps of books and magazines and an old piano... definitely recommended, especially considering the price. 10 bucks for adults on an unpowered tent site.
