  • What a gem of a place to stay for the last night of our holiday before dropping the can back to Christchurch.

Book online, site run by the Selwyn Council and the best bit? Only $15 for the night, unpowered. Showers require $2 coins. There are plenty of spaces and access is via a boom gate with a code that will be given to you when you book. There is a dump station and plenty of water points. Amenities are clean and there is a kitchen for you to use. Highly recommend.

  • It’s a nice quiet spot away from the road.

You have to book online and get an entry code otherwise you can’t get past the barrier.

$25pn for powered site for solo traveller and there’s nothing else around for food or anything.

It’s basically just a field sectioned off into sites.

The bathrooms were ok although a few of the showers and toilets were closed for winter.

Decent enough place to stop if you need one as there’s nothing else around much else around. No WIFI though.

  • I think this place deserves more than the current 57% rating it has.

Stayed in winter so park wasn't looking as nice as I can imagine it in summer. Even so, the spots on the river side of the park are nice. Big spots and open spaces. Owner was very friendly and helpful upon arrival.

Toilets, showers and kitchen are a bit older than some other parks but clean and work well. The thing that lost points for me was coin operated showers. Not a fan. You pay for a site, showers should be part of it.

All in all I would stay again if I was passing through.

  • Very open and sheltered campsite.

Lots of trees to set up around. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Limited equipment in the kitchen and no lounge space. Sites were large and easily accessed. No children's playground or anything for children. River was unable to be used due to unsafe water quality.

  • Great laid out campground.

Sheltered well set up area with lots for the kids to do from the playground next door to brilliant swimming hole in the river running through the back.

Facilities are good with enough showers and toilets for when it's busy.

  • Newly revamped shower & toilet facilities very nice & clean.

Limited washing machines (3) for such a large camp-not good. Kitchen really needs upgrading with appliances but was clean and plenty of seating.. No lounge area to watch TV. There was one in kitchen but really needs tuning and readable instructions on how to use/change channels. Toilets closed for TWO hours for cleaning (sometimes longer) when we were there mid jan this year NOT appropriate for the very low number of campers there at this time. The other option was clean, but VERY dark dated loo a good way away. No lighting at night at this one.. No good for me with toilet urgency issues.

15yo(?) daughter could do with customer service training!

Price dosen’t really reflect facilities available. Just a tad too high. For the price, this camp really needs upgrading of some facilities. Especially for kiddies. But we loved it there all the same. Beautiful trees and birds. A lovely feeling of peace early evening.

It would be advantageous for a noise curfew to be imposed especially when kiddies are running around and screaming in fun up to 11:30 pm!

  • GOOD: Tidy site, with clean facilities.

Camp kitchen well equipped and spacious. Quite a bit of space on site, especially if you don't need power hook-up.

BAD: The children's play area has seen better days, a number of broken items (see-saw, swing) which have been broken for many months. Time for some much needed investment.

NOTES: Unfortunately the river adjacent to the camp is no-longer safe to swim in due to toxic algae, although not the fault of the camp, it does diminish the camps appeal for campers with children. There are much better children's play areas at the top of the camp access road, which make good alternatives to the site's.
