Arrived on a Westcoast winter rainy night (July 2020).
This is a large grassed area behind the local hotel. Greeted by the pub owner/bar tender who set us up with a grassed ‘free of puddles’ powered site. Enjoyed a very good meal and chat with the locals. Basic kitchen, toilets & shower. Cheaper than average for the site. Best part was getting a feel for this coal mining area and the locals stories.

Good place to stop while in transit.
Great food, cold beer and a nice host. Small camping place with a few cabins on top. Clean lavatories. Looks a bit like a bot mrssy backyard, but for 12.5$ pp perfect.

We have experienced something 100+ ranker places both north and south island.
This is number one. Tent site with nice kitchen, hot shower, free WIFi and nice pub. All these and much more 15 NZD for two person. We came for one night and stayed nine. Shame all other NX camping sites who ask 40-50 NZD and give customers much less.

An absolutely lovely random find.
Friendly owners with cute little huts that are super cheap. We went with the intention of camping but found the huts as affordable as putting up a tent in a big holiday park. Private parking, big cooking area with all equipment and amenities needed. Great pub food at really affordable prices - the take away menu especially. There wasn’t the best of space for tents but if in a van or taking a hut it’s great.

I got a cheap cabin for the night which was cosy. The camp ground kitchen is great with all cooking facilities and a lounge area. There is also laundry available. Recommended!
