Lovely stay here with the family over New Year 2021/22.
New owner is very friendly and helpful, had a lush site between huge native trees for shade and bright purple blooming hydrangeas. Toilets/showers are old school but super clean. Walking distance to big, quiet and private beach as well as cool climbing trees for kids. Also caught some fish at the river mouth and crazy but there was NO SANDFLIES!

Low key and relaxed.
Don't expect top notch facilities but a great base for exploring to the north. Great location for wandering around the estuary. Better option than the place in town.

Fabulous spot.
Yep it's a bit old but has all the facilities you need and the hosts are really helpful and friendly. It's how campgrounds should be. Absolutely recommend.

Just pleased to find somewhere to stay after long trip.
Very old but cheap at $30 a night for powered site. Nothing spent on upgrading for years but caters for older people who come to the coast to whitebait. Cloth towels in toilets not very hygienic. A Civil Defence warning in place which we knew nothing about due to gale force winds. We parked away from trees for safety, however the power went off in the region. Pretty glad to get back over the Karamea Bluff in one piece. Lesson learnt to check weather forecast. Unfortunately its the best place to stay in Karamea as the only other option is a domain.
