The owner is so kind and the site is beautiful, loads of space and the facilities are basic but well worth it.
Showers in my opinion are cheap $2 for 6 minutes! I paid $5 dollars for 8 minutes elsewhere. Actually ended up staying here more than once.

Lots of tent spots.
Even though lots of permanent campers, they are in separate section and the whole site was quiet and people respectful of each other day and night. We stayed down bottom near creek, toilet/shower block down there was old, but clean. Weren't given any info about showers costing money at check in. Another resident thankfully informed us as we were heading in. They are $2 for 6 minutes.
Also weren't informed that dryers in laundry needed tokens from front office. Office closes 530pm.

Lovely setting amongst bush & theres a river & walking tracks. There are permanents living there that make the place look a little untidy but if you're at the other end of the camp it's quite nice. Owners were very helpful and friendly. The facilities were quite outdated but showers & toilets were immaculate. I would definitely stay again.

Its huge and has very good facilities. It was full of mountain bikers creating a very cool chilled vibe. If we had more time we would have stayed a few more nights. No mobile coverage but that was actually nice to just detach and enjoy the surroundings but they do offer wifi if you can't live without it for one night

Where to start.
. .
Carol and George have been soo kind and friendly to us. When we first arrived Carol was a warming welcome, we had previous problems freedom camping in the city centre with loud music in the early hours and it was a breath of fresh air staying at the camp grounds. We first met George walking around the grounds and he has been nothing but a friendly face and a great laugh. The kitchen area was always clean and tidy and so were the showers, there is the internet room to charge your devices for free also. We did get a bit confused on where to park but they are both friendly enough to be ask twice. Don't get put off by the cheap price, the owners are just very kind and helpful to campers. There are a few simple rules but as along as you cooperate all is fine. What was ment to be only a few nights ended up with over 2 weeks and counting. Thank you both for your great hospitality.

We have used this site a few times now and this trip we have used the site in early December when it was very quiet and then 2nd Dec when very busy.
Staff are great at the site with security wandering around during busy periods.
Cheap laundry.
Powered and none powered sites available.
Some full time residents on site.
For mountain bikers there are a variety of routes available from easy gravel tracks to black runs.
Stream close by which seemed popular.
Much as we stay away from big sites this one was very open friendly and no noise.

We flew by the seat of our pants as part of our “Wing It South Island Roadie”.
A couple with a dog, called on the afternoon of our arrival, picked this place after seeing great review on here. Absolutely lovely people, we only stayed one night but could have stayed longer for sure. The place was very clean, great toilets and kitchen. Showers were great for the $2 time limited. We walked up some in the trails was great, nice view at the top. Great to be able to take the dog.
Thanks again team

We came in at pouring rain and the owner got us a site pretty far away from the toilet and kitchen block so we needed to walk trough the mud although we were almost the only ones around.
Kitchen was alright but cold on a winters day, because there was no heating and the doors didn't really close. But for only $28 for 2 on a powered site it was alright and you are close to Nelson and the ferry at Picton.

It was a beautiful place with lots of trees.
It's a great place for families, couples or groups because there is enough space for everyone, including the facilities. The space is also quite cheap: $10 per person with a non sustainable camper or tent. We haven't used the showers, so I can't say something about that, except that is cost $2 for 6 minutes (or a free cold shower). There is wifi available for payment as well. Just arrive before 9pm as the gates close after that. We both loved the nature of this camping spot. The hostess was really nice and helpful as well. Definitely recommend this place!

Nice campsite and nice place, but very small kitchen for such a big camp.
It was not possible make a breakfast at morning, so we had to cook next to the car and we were late with a check out. If we wanted to clean a dish after the breakfast the kitchen was closed and the owner was really unfriendly and bad to us. I tried to explain him, that we are late because the kitchen was totally full, but he didn't listen. So be careful about the time at morning.

We have two kitchens and one is closed and cleaned at 10.00pm.The other is cleaned after lunch. My cleaners get held up if waiting on late campers and then they get behind the rest of the day. Much easier if campers use the kitchen/showers at the times they are advised on arriving. Everyone is notified when buildings close for cleaning. Sorry this did not fit your timetable, My husband is to the point and helpful to everyone. He does not get into discussion with a change of times, or change the rules when there is another option for campers to use our other buildings. We have two kitchens/sinks etc.

Absolutely gorgeous campsite. Quiet, peaceful, lovely swimming hole. Ducks came to visit us for food, amazing. Woke to the sound of birdsong. Very clean and tidy. Internet kiosk. Twenty dollars for two people per night unpowered. The staff were amazing and so helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend you stay here, even the older couple we met from England said it was the best site they had stayed at. Five minute drive to centre of Nelson. Check out Stefano's Italian Pizza in Nelson for real pizza.

OK campsite, bad for sandflies so repellant is a must .
Toilets need updating and showers also need to be up dated, both these areas had a large collection of bed bugs over the floor. The kitchen areas are OK but still again these need updating. All in all an OK site, would not stay again as the toilets and showers are run down.
