A really highly recommended freedom camping spot.
There is plenty of space to park in a quiet location. The owners are really friendly, definitely stop by for a drink in the pub!

Great free spot for non-powered vehicles in the field at the back of the pub.
(Powered sites available for a fee). The staff in the pub are super friendly, and the food is delicious (I recommend the wedges with the works!) Pool tables for $1/play.
Public toilets on the road next to the pub open 24hrs.
Lovely spot to stop overnight on the way to/from Abel Tasman, close to Pelorus Bridge and Havelock on either side.
You can swim in the river, accessed down the road behind the pub. We stayed here twice and would recommend!

Lovely view, free unpowered campsite.
Popped into the pub for a drink, very friendly and welcoming staff. Food looked amazing (shame we had already eaten!). Public toilets clean and not too far a walk. No running water, but bar staff kindly topped up our water bottle in the morning.

Great FREE spot btw but I highly recommend going into the Inn & buying a pint as compensation - might look scary but it’s family run & the daughter was very kind to me, even offered me a shower in her
own home (: Public toilets round the corner and very well kept considering it’s a bit remote! The highway is just over the ways but not loud in the slightest

Great hidden safe spot on the way to Havelock.
Possibility to have a snack/food/coffee there, which is lovely. No running water, a little bit smelly toilet- but it’s free. Lovely people running the tavern.

The campsite is pretty good, we really enjoyed our time here.
There is a meadow with place for a few camper vans and you don't have to be fully self-contained cause around the corner are public toilets. Would definitely recommend this place.

Just a pub with grass backyard for parking in the back.
Owner turned us away, told us they only take full campers that contain their own showers. Wtf?

One of the best places we stayed in NZ.
We could stay for free. Power would have cost 15 dollars for our camper. Grassed area. And the restaurant is perfect: fire place, billiard, best burgers and really cheap!

This was a nice port in a storm.
We stopped on a rainy day after passing some of the other free sites on the way from Nelson, which were a bit grim. A warm welcome and a nice glowing fire in the inn to ward off the wet and cold of the January low front! There are powered sites. There was no charge for the overnight for an unpowered site, as we ate dinner. The good old days.
