Opunake Beach Holiday Park - We're Right By The Beach!
Stunning West Coast Location
Opunake, a small town on the coast of Taranaki, New Zealand features stunning views of the coastline and the iconic mountain. Opunake Kiwi Holiday Park has a unique beachfront location in a sheltered sandy bay surrounded by crimson Pohutukawa trees – it’s a popular summer camping spot for families, couples and groups!

We have a range of affordable accommodation including campsites, campervan or RV parks , cabins & self contained units. Opunake carries a 4 star Qualmark rating and Bronze Enviro Award offers modern communal amenities and wheelchair access. Enjoy the great kiwi outdoors in a beach environment where children can play safely at the adjacent playground, complete with a toddler’s paddling pool!
An array of activities for the whole family
Opunake is known as “the home of the big wave” and features an artificial surf reef. The famous Surf Highway 45 runs straight through this quirky coastal town where there are great surfing and fishing opportunities all year round! Opunake is a fantastic base to participate in one of the many colourful local events such as the Beach Carnival, Garden Festival, Yarn Bomb and AmeriCarna and why not give Claybird Shooting a go – good fun for all the family!
The Great Opunake Walkway is on our doorstep covering coastal and lake walking. Various shops, cafes, a local movie theatre and swimming pool are all within walking distance from the holiday park and Opunake's 18-hole golf course is just minutes away. Murals throughout the town celebrate local history and heritage walks will take you past some of the area’s most significant sites and scenery.

I can’t praise Julian a Shelly enough, so friendly an accomodating.
5th year we have stayed at this beautiful camp. We have a large group of family that stay and I love how all the children are so friendly with each other an no hassles, aswell as Adults.
Facilities are clean. So close to the beach. We love the carnival they have every year. We can’t fault this wonderful family Holiday park. We will continue to keep Camping here every year 😁 Thank you

Naturally beautiful beach and surtounds with many walks.
Nice small town.
Self-contained cabin was great for us - private and tidy. We intend to come back for a longer stay next time.

Beds really comfy, unit very clean and tidy with all we would require. Would love to come again.

was incredibly under whelmed with the facilities and lack of space, also when we had to cancel a night due to poor weather we were refused a credit on the night we had not used so the owners kept the
$130 for themselves, so when you book make sure you are going to use the full time booked for, or book day by day as you will not get any money back. Thief by deception as it is not stated anywere,. Not happy

We did enjoy our stay at Opunake Beach Camp.
Would have liked more water outlets and didn't like to use the hose named Fire Hose, Loved the rules of no loud noise after 10pm and no dogs running around. The Camp ground and abolition block were kept up to a high level cleanliness. We are certainly coming again .

Great staff so friendly and nothing was ever a problem , had a issue with wrong power cord but they had this sorted asap.
Great pool for the kids and they had so much fun.

Very well set up camping site.
The view is awesome. Big space in each section . The kitchen, bathroom , laundry and TV room are very clean and well equipped! Love this place . Our family was really enjoying over there. Will definitely go back again

Excellent facilities, lots of warm showers, toilets, kitchen, instant boiling water etc friendly staff.
Kids loved the paddle pool and the ice creams from the store 😊 awesome flat beach with nice rock pools as well! And beautiful sunsets 👌camp'sites decent sized even though we're pretty sure we received the smallest of the site still worked well for us as a family of 4 with room for more.

Shelly & Julian you guys are just awesome! We always love coming and staying each year. And each time our group gets bigger and bigger just because your facilities, sites and friendly nature are second to none. Plus we brag a lot and get people to visit so then they want to stay too lol. See you again in 2023

Could not rate our stay and higher!!
We were very last minute over new year, so had 1 night in our tent and then moved to a cabin.
travelled with 13 and 16 year kids, and we surfed, body surfed, great beach!! We are big black sand fans.
Facilities were impeccably clean, and had everything we needed. Met lots fun people and cleaners, and Shelly were all super friendly. Could not have been more accommodating, helpful with tips, phone numbers etc !!!!

What a lovely caravan park.
Everything clean and orderly. Staff very polite and approachable. Top spot easy access to the beach. We will return in February. Thank you
