Upon arrival staff were rude and indifferent.

    Ichy

eyes from the pillows. Convenient location for quick stay , however a smile on arrival would help.

We turned up fairly late not having booked and we were greeted by a very friendly man who found us a spot and also gave us various recommendations for Rotorua.

Facilities were fine and supermarket and gas station across the road. If you need a stop between Waitimo and Rotorua we’d recommend this place.

    Too expensive.

The place is actually good enough, but it could well need a renovation.

We gave $ 80 for 2 adults and 2 kids at a powered site and that is for one knight. There is no luxery on the campsite other then a small poll, a swing with a rusty slide and a small cheap trampolin.

But the staff is really nice and accommodating. They also like to give good advice for the further journey.

I would only choose this place of distress again.

Avoid this place like the plague.

My husband and I booked two nights stay here from Australia. It was horrendous! This motel was the worst motel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. The unit was filthy throughout, un-identifiable marks on the lounge/bedroom walls, throughout the kitchen area and worst of all in the small bathroom area. The $2 shop shower curtain showed signs of black mold starting to creep up from the bottom . The mattress was so old and threadbare that when we pulled the stained mattress cover back to find out what was poking us in our sleep, the protruding bed springs stared straight back at us. My greatest mistake was pre-paying those two nights. When I asked for a refund so I could leave and find somewhere hygienic and even slightly comfortable, the Manager Ronnie became extremely rude and abusive and refused to refund my money saying he had turned away other bookings due to ours. If I had enough money to book somewhere else I would have despite him refusing to refund our money, but with no money to spare we were stuck in this nightmare of a place. The manager had deliberately lied to us about the other bookings he turned away; when we left at daybreak the next morning not one of the other units had guest in - we were the only fools in the place. At $97 a night the place is a genuine rip off. Putaruru should be ashamed of itself letting such a business exist in its town. Definitely any overseas visitors unfortunate enough to do what we did and end up there will never return to that town - $10 backpackers are cleaner and more comfortable than this place.

A little bit old but good.

Very cheap. Just $13 per person for a tent site.
