I have been threatening for 10 years to catch a big kingfish.
Carl made it happen, and it was so easy and so exiting that I want to kick myself for not going the Epic way earlier! We booked the next trip the next day.

A huge thank you to Carl for the trip of a life time at the end of december, just arrived back to Oz yesterday.
All 4 of us caught our biggest fish which is remarkable in itself, but to see Samuel who hadnt caught anything bigger than a 30 cm fish catch his first snapper on plastics as well as a 17 kilo kingfish was just priceless. That is a hell of a way to celebrate your 21st birthday. I really appreciated the time and effort you gave particularly to samuel who had not fought fish of this calibre before. Samuels photo of his fish sits proudly in his fathers office in New York, whilst the photo of my 30 kilo kingfish sits proudly on my notice board here in OZ. I have fished for over 30 years but to be able to go on a charter with just family members was a first. Your personalised service (including fantastic cooking tips) and the fact that you are about fishing sustainability rates you as the best charter I have ever been on. I thoroughly reconmend Epic adventures for that trip of a lifetime.

Great boat, great gear and fantastic skipper. Thanks for all the help during the day and keeping us on top of the reefs in such messy seas, much appreciated from all onboard!

One of the best fishing trips we have ever experienced!
Highly recommended. Non-stop action form the get go!!! 3 days of arm busting, rod-bending FUN!. Highly experienced skipper, great boat and unbeatable jigging. What more could any serious fisherman ask for. We have already booked oyr dates for next year!!

If you are looking for some genuine fishing thrills, the Kingfish is the ultimate fighter. This will certainly be made a regular trip and I wouldn't consider anyone else to point us in the right direction. Whether you are new to the sport, or a hardened fisherman...EPIC is the one to choose.

I had high expectations when I signed up for a charter with Carl.
3 respected fishing store owners I had spoken to in Auckland all said he was the man to go with if I wanted to slay Kingfish and were talking him up big time. I had also taken a look at his excellent website and seen the photo's and read the reviews. I can honestly say that the trip EXCEEDED my expectations. I could not fault the boat, the skipper - Carl, the top of the line fishing gear he had available for those that did not have any specialised Jigging gear or the spots he took us to. I caught more kingfish(10) in the first 4 hours than I had in the previous 15 years(6). Unbelievable. We were hooking up on every drift with multiple hookups the norm. And when the hookup rate did slow when the sun had risen a little, Carl got us to change from the pink jigs that had been so successful earlier to blue jigs and we were back into the action again. He knows his stuff. He took time to show us all the correct technique to use to get the best results. If he wasn't unhooking fish, taking photo's or feeding us with a wicked chocolate slice his wife whipped up for us he was encouraging us each time we hooked up. Half way through our 8 hour charter we decided to target Hapuka to have a rest from the relentless Kingfish. Our arms were aching. At the end of the day Carl gutted and gilled our catch and after thanking him several times and the compulsory handshakes it was all over. It was the best charter I have ever been on and I have already booked another trip with him but this time I've booked the whole boat ... So my mates can get a taste of the action.
If you want your arms stretched and a photo holding a big Kingfish Carl Muir is the man to see.

I was recently looking to purchase a new boat but after my trip with Carl on Epic Adventures I have decided that it is more practical for me to board his vessel and have the a wealth of experience and
knowledge at my disposal.
The boat and all the gear that is provided is top of the range and Carl does not hesitate to offer any of his tackle to the crew. We definitely got more than our moneys worth and I look forward many more trips with Epic Adventures!

Carl is a first class operator who's hospitality and commitment to his customers exceeds that of any other guide with which I have fished. Fished with Carl the first time in May, so good I came back in August.

Fished with Carl 1 day in March loved it that much came back over in September with 2 mates and Fished 5 days.
We caught plenty of Kingfish to 30kgs and Snapper to 6kgs. We fished with both Carl and Toby as skippers both were first class, very help full and made us feel very welcome, we had a ball and can't wait to get back over and fish with them again. I would recommend Epic Adventures to anyone who wants to get there arms stretched by plenty of big kingies.

Straight to the spot, straight onto the fish, good instructions, fantastic fishing, variety of spots, good gear. Biggest kingi 50lbs, biggest snapper 12lbs - couldn't recommend more highly. An epic day!

I had a great fishing experience!
Carl knew exactly where to go to catch Yellowtail Kingfish. With a quick run down on how to use the equipment and the technique in jigging, it was off to the races! The only limit to how many fish I could catch was my own physical ability. Kingfish provide an excellent fight, and they will test your physical endurance. Definitely a memorable experience.

A great experience besides the fact it was so choppy and I was sea sick for about 4 hours.
I bounced back though and caught a kingfish and 5.5kg snapper which was a delicious dinner.
Skipper Owen was nice but became a bit grumpy with others when they snapped some of the line off :(
