Great little basic campsite near beach.

Cost us $93 for two nights not cheap . Bathrooms cleaned daily pretty simple to use showers. Campsites we’re good size spaces for your camper, tent etc. it was quiet and very close to beach. Waterfull is easy walk to get to.

Stayed here many times over the years, definitely pays to book in advance using online booking system.

Great place for families, definitely not a place to party or drink to excess.

Camp kitchen, Toilets and showers are cleaned regularly.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

My group paid for a booking for 6 people, after pitching one tent and parking two cars a camp employee asked us condense the space we were taking up, which seems unfair after paying over $600 for our booking

    .

The person working the front desk genuinely looks like they don’t want to be there & the interaction left me feeling uneasy.

Overall the Piha camp is not worth the cost & the staff are difficult to interact with (this is demonstrated by the replies to negative reviews)

I tried to book out 8 sites for my sons 21st birthday.

I got a call back from a male saying they do not want any parties held there as its family friendly so they cannot help. Never once was I asked age of people or even given the curtesy of saying that it is a family camp ground and lights out at 10pm. JUST A FYI there would have been 8 families with children between the age of 3 to 12. We camp all around NZ and know the rules. We have visited Piha 3 times before and told many people how wonderful the sites are...but we will never return and also never refer friends. Thanks for nothing Piha

Friendly staff, family environment with like minded tourists.

People are respectful of each other's space and felt comfortable going to the beach leaving the tent behind unattended and bbq chairs and tables outside as everyone did the same.

Campsite is set up as a ring road, logical and each site has ample room to accomodate a very large camper van, gazebo with room to spare.

Not suited for drinking party campers with loud music.

Wifi available. 100MB / day free or $5 unlimited for 48 hrs. Cell phone coverage is good all round for Spark and Vodafone.

Kitchen facilities are generally clean. Only need to bring a tea towel as wash cloths, dish washing detergent was provided for. Had two microwaves and 4 hotplates, each with a large and small element.

Shower facilities are kept clean, ruined only by your neighbours if they don't clean up after themselves. Staff can only do so much as they are cleaned daily.

Surprised there was hot showers after 9pm at night.

Access tags required to gain entry in into camp past barrier arm, toilet facility and shower timer. Push to start / re-start showers.

No open fires allowed. BYO your own coolers or BBQ and the staff offer herbs grown on site or they leave a friendly note to help yourself to tomatoes if available.

If your gluten free and / or celiac they have plenty of option at the two store right next door and they sell tip top vegan ice cream at camp office.

Water tastes a bit funny but drinkable. Otherwise BYO water to last unless you want to pay $1 per litre of water from their cooler.

I'm summary a very good experience and the staff set a good and safe precedence. Plenty to do, sights to see and children friendly.

We turned up in our campervan and were told it was full even though there were many sites available.

The reason given was due a limited water supply. When I said we had our own water supply and toilet, I was told "sorry" - with no other reason or explanation. There were no other places we could stay in the area and had to return to Auckland?!

A really lovely place to stay for the night.

The woman in the office was really kind.

There is power for your camper. You get 30 minutes of shower each.

The toilet and shower are not luxurious, but they are okay and do the job well.

There is a kitchen and a laundry house. Also there is a tennis course if you are into to that stuff.

The price is $20 per person.

Do yourself a favour and go to the beach at sunset.

Dirty bathrooms and shower curtains blow open.

Staff are not friendly and the kitchen could do with updating. Campground was empty and in welcoming there used to be more caravans here but they since gone and the atmosphere is unwelcoming. Rubbish bin area stinks. Don’t waste your money!!
