Had high hopes & excitement for this experience with Haka however ….

this changed!! I would not recommend you book with them. To explain more some of the things that annoyed me & made me regret my booking are: The Itinerary is not inline with the trip! The Cultural aspect (including guides) (who you are contractors from another country and overhear calling us all dkheads and denies it when asked about!) is now lost with this company! (having sold themselves to Intrepid) The cost of these trips include very little. eg: only breakfast is included not at least a dinner or 2! and the whole tour is primarily focused on just extra paid activities, so factor all this in on top of daily food, drinks, flights, insurance etc. ‘lodge stay?’ some… then 2 star backpackers! Private room upgrade yes .. for a huge extra cost & with no en-suite. I could add more but instead I recommend you booking with someone else! You will be much happier!!!

I did the 10 day tour around the North Island and it was awesome!

We had a great range of people of varying ages and ethnicities, all of which got on really well with each other. All of the activities were great fun, and even the included ones were amazing. Our tour guide was amazing and was super easy to talk to casually, and professional when we needed. Overall, it was an amazing experience which created some life-long memories with some new life-long friends.

I did the South Island Lick Tour with Haka Tours and it was a great experience.

Awesome experience to travel around and add-on cool experiences. Our tour guide was super informative, professional but also easy to get along with and was always around when needed. Great mix of people on the bus from all around the world and there is good balance between doing activities and driving. Highly recommend to anyone looking at booking a trip around NZ. I did the 7 day South Island Lick tour which started in Christchurch and included visiting the beautiful lakes of Tekapo and Pukaki, as well as Queenstown, Wanaka and Fox Glacier.

Our guide Jacinta had a lot of experience and was well informed about each place we visited, but also did a fantastic job making it fun for everyone and organising the activities. One of the best parts of the tour was getting to spend a week with a bunch of keen travellers of all ages and ethnicities-we all made some great bonds and many of us still keep in touch! I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see the best parts of New Zealand with a fun group of people.

We are a family of 5 from Manila, Philippines.

Jenny Power expertly arranged our private tour of the North and South Islands within the budget we set and within our time frame. Rhys, our engaging and amiable guide, while new with Haka, made our tour seamless, including transitions with 3rd party operators. Sceneries, people and culture taken as whole, this is our best family vacation.

HAKA is indeed true to its ranking. We will definitely recommend it to our friends.

What an amazing experience with Haka!

I did the Bay of Islands tour earlier this month and had an absolutely phenomenal time. I saw Orcas for the first time, swam with the dolphins, ate fish and chips on one of NZ most gorgeous beaches while the sun set, chatting with new friends from all over the globe.

The accommodation at the Haka Lodge in Paihia is gorgeous. I had a private room which has a huge and comfortable super king bed with views of the sea. It even had Apple TV and a private bathroom. The view from the common room was absolutely stunning. I would say one of the best views in all of Paihia! It was above some amazing food places and 1 minute to the wharf for all the activities like Barefoot Sailing (highly recommend the sunset cruise!).

Thank you Haka tours for an AMAZING experience. As a NZ citizen I would not usually do a tour in my own country, but I learned so much, experienced more things than I would have done on my own and met some pretty amazing people.

Thank you so much for showing me my own backyard! I wish I could give you more than 10 stars.

Could not recommend Haka tours enough!

I recently did the 7 Day North Island adventure, with the extension down to Christchurch. I had such a brilliant time and would rate it as one of my top holidays. Even before the tour began, the support and information given by the Haka staff was great. Our guide Andy was fantastic, very knowledgeable and accommodating, doing what he could to ensure everyone got the most out of their trip.

I was able to travel with an incredible group of people, the small size is perfect, making it easy to get to know people and develop friendships quickly.

My only regret is that I didn’t do a longer trip! Would definitely travel with Haka again.

This trip has definitely been one of the best ski experiences of my life.

Ultimate Heli trip with HAKA Tours

I have skied all over the world, but I have been blown away by the beauty & the terrain in New Zealand. Haka tours made a great job putting this tour together and especially thanks to their guide Chris, this tour was worth every penny. Heli skiing can be tricky with changing weather, so you have to be prepared to be flexible about the schedule, anticipate and be a great coordinator, which was a task that Chris handled 100%. We were a group of 4 plus Chris and immediately became friends having fun and together making this and unforgettable trip. Thanks again Haka & Chris!

Most Amazing Experience With Haka Tours!!

I travelled in October with my spouse with Haka Tours and it was the best decision we made! New Zealand is a highly picturesque and unique destination that can be enjoyed by people of all age groups. Haka Tours not only know the place very well, but also know how to get the tourists the best in the easiest place. It is very important to have a good, resourceful and friendly tour organizer when travelling to a new country. Haka Tours does exactly that! They are very approachable - I remember emailing and calling them from India multiple time with queries - big and small - and they resolved my doubts very diligently every time.

Andy, our guide, is a very friendly guy. He made us very comfortable and would ensure that we enjoyed the best while he would do all the running around in the background (when we were asleep)! We would get our passes ready in our hand and wouldn't need to go through the hassle or wasting time. In fact, it was also very easy to modify the tour while we were already there - we added couple of activities (at discounted prices).

The Hostels were always kept warm and clean and Haka Tours ensured that our stay in places other than the hostels were comfortable too.

We did the South Island tour with them and our tour was organized in a way that nothing gets missed out and we get the best!

Thanks Andy & Haka Tours!! We have the most cherishing fondest memories of the tour that we will always treasure..

I was a part of the PREMIUM NEW ZEALAND GUIDED TOUR- SOUTHERN PIONEER from December 23, 2022 to Jan 1 2023, paying $NZ 3,599.

Advertised as being “created for travellers in their mid-thirties and upwards”, it was stated that “the biggest difference on a Haka Plus New Zealand small group tour is the style of accommodation. You’ll stay in trendy hotels, boutique motels, lodges, and rainforest retreats - no backpackers and no dorm rooms".

Unfortunately, this certainly was not the case. We were to be provided “A Night of Glamping Under Southern Stars: Luxury camping experience on a historic farm surrounded by breathtaking scenery and enjoying high country hospitality.

The alternative accommodation provided was completely unacceptable. Instead of twin share accommodation in a comfortable, hygienic setting with a private bathroom, we were presented with a rooms in the YHA Backpackers hostel with unclean shared bathrooms- toothpaste had been left in the sink; odorous dorm rooms with old and worn furnishings, and wifi unavailable in the rooms. Feeling unsafe being in this unhygienic Backpackers accommodation setting with no privacy or cleanliness, we paid $450 out of our own pocket for these two nights for accommodation in Wanaka of the standard that was promised- NOT BACKPACKERS & DORM ROOMS- as stated on the website regarding Haka Plus Tours. We were promised Twin-share hotel style accommodation and this was not provided at Wanaka.

I was very disappointed by the standard of care, consideration and planning that were shown as part of this Haka Plus Tour of New Zealand and would not recommend using this company.

    To avoid absolutly !!

Avis sur Tour légendaire de Nouvelle-Zélande de 20 jours

    Avis en attente

    I booked the 20 days tour for 2000€ (3599$)

Haka tour is a scam !! Be very careful and I give you all the reasons with links :

The price is really too expensiv for what is really included :

    - The bus is uncomfortable, there is no wifi and no plug at all, if you are tall you have to take 2 sits.

    - You will sleep in dorm in hostels, nothing special.

    - NO ACTIVITY IS INCLUDED : what they say in their website about the activities included are in fact free activity you can do by your own for FREE, they had to pay almost nothing but they charge you for "shuttle". Just for example, ap Reinga is free but if you want to do it you have to pay 80$, Coromandel cathedral cove is free but they say "included" on their website, etc...

    - The "intercontinental breakfast" is in fact some food your tour guide will buy for you at the supermarket, you have to cook it yourself and dishwash everything, nothing special in this breakfast.

    - YOU CAN NOT CANCEL if you really dislike this tour, like me, you can not cancel

    - THEY CAN CHANGE WHAT THEY WANT : because of the weather in my tour some activities were canceled and they don't refund your money back and they don't care

    - TONS OF DRIVING : You will do all your tour in the uncomfortable bus, you have not time to really visit (for example just 1 night in Christchurch and Wanaka)

    - Average age of 33 years old, they are totally lying, in my tour there were not many people under 30 years old, and if you ask to the hostels and customers you will finaly discover that youngest people are rare in this tour.

    - THEY DON'T GET DISCOUNT OR PAID ACTIVITIES : If you book an activity with them, don't expect to get this activity a little bit less expensiv because in reality the prices are the same if you book via haka tour or directly with the activity.

I booked Haka Tours because I had read the reviews so I had positive expectations that I have will have an amazing experience.

    Unfortunately, the opposite happened.

The problem was the tour guide. She was a very rigid person and very arrogant. She used to be nice occasionally but deep down inside her behavior was worst.

She was always in a rush. When I asked her why we are always in a rush, she put the blame on me saying that I am always late. Instead of behaving and ensuring customer satisfaction, she had an attitude problem and behaved in the worst manner.

Also, I observed that she did not treat all ethnicities equally in the tour group. She treated white above all other ethnicities. Now, this was shocking to experience.

I wish and I genuinely wish we had a better tour guide.... Haka Tours is a big NO from me!

    Incredible experience!

that's how I describe my New Zealand tour with Haka. Under stewardship of Sam Griffiths, 21 days on tour were like a cakewalk. Everything was well planned, organized and managed along with good backup support especially from Tianna Pittenger. Never faced any difficulty. The best part was the add-on activities. For a newcomer to New Zealand it is really difficult to choose a good activity operator and here Haka tour played their responsibility very well. Not only they choose the best and safety conscious operators, they also provided pick-up and drop from operators' sites. Tour was very reasonably priced and nothing was hidden. Real Kiwi adventure tour .. cool, honest and with a personal touch . Thank you Haka for making my journey a really memorable one! :) :) Keep it up!

It was the most incredible trip! I did a 7 day South Island tour. I am already looking at booking another tour with Haka Tours and it has only been a few weeks since I returned. If all the guides are as amazing as Katie then count me in again! When activities were cancelled due to weather conditions she went out of her way to find similar activities for us at other times on the trip .Her enthusiasm and knowledge was incredible. The nicest person you will ever meet!!!!! I was with a group of 15 fellow travelers who were travelling alone. We all got on so well! When I think of all the things I achieved and saw on my tour I think of all those other people from all over the world with the greatest of fondness.

    Amplified NZ Tour

There was a good mix of ages so we didn't feel like the old people among a group of university students, and plenty of opportunity to pick up extra activities and tailor the experience to suit our own preferences. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and really did her utmost to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. The smaller group size was ideal, and the balance between travelling and activities was just right for us.

Fantastic tour. Lovely people on our tour and our super friendly, helpful tour guide Ollie was great. The tour is really fast pace. So keep in mind you need to be flexable to get the most out of it. Days are very busy if you include lots of activities and extra curricular things. Flight to Milford sound is a must! Don’t bus as you loose a whole day in Queenstown. This tour gives you a really good feel for the South Island but you will leave certain places thinking you could have spent longer. Accomodation was good. Only change I would make is 2 nights in Wanaka and 1 night in Frans Joseph. I really enjoyed my experience. Thanks to Haka Tours and to our guide Ollie for an awesome job and for the nice friendly people on my tour made for an enjoyable experience. Recommend and would travel again.

I got to see many cool places I would have never known about without the tour and I met some really great lifelong friends! The small tour size allows you to really get to know people. I was in New Zealand for a total of 2 months and my favourite part of my trip was my 1 week Haka Tour! All of the hostels were sufficiently nice although it really doesn’t matter considering you spend most of your time having fun with all of the activities. I meet amazing people on my tour and made friendships that will last a lifetime. My Haka tour guide, Josh was awesome! He was patient, encouraging, and all around fun and engaging with all of us. He took us to off the beaten path places and I feel like I got a real taste of New Zealand...exactly what I was looking for. Accommodations that were provided were great, but some places better than others. All in all, I was extremely pleased with my tour and wish I had more time to go on a longer tour! Thank you Josh and Haka Tours team!

My friend and I have just returned from the 7day South Island lick tour.

It was an absolutely amazing unforgettable experience. Our guide and hero Si showed us your country at its best and we met many new friends along the way.

The greatest experience of my life so far.

The whole group, and the tour guide Josh were all fantastic.

I booked a number of activities before I went, and even managed to squeeze in a few last minute ones thanks to Josh!

We did so much, learned so much, and laughed even more.

I've been home for almost three weeks, and I still can't believe it ended. I can't imagine having done the trip with any other company. The group size was just perfect.

It was a great experience, especially if you are a little uneasy about traveling alone.

The hostels are all nice and the tour guides are great with information. It is also super convenient that they book your activities for you. Would recommend!

I have recently completed a 7 day North Island Adventure tour and had an amazing time with a great bunch of people of mixed ages.

Our guide Jackson was very amenable and knowledgeable about his country and people. It was the best way to see NZ as a single person. I had never done anything like this before and didn't know what to expect but really enjoyed it in spite of being caught in the cyclone in Wellington on the last day! I would definitely recommend to anyone travelling on their own whatever their age.
