The museum has plenty of interesting stories and information on show, everything is displayed in a modern way.
The best thing it is for free and free WiFi.

A fantastic museum.
It was interesting and informative on the development of the region from Maori times to the point where it was in my lifetime. Which was a little disturbing.

Although it was being refurbished at the time, it was very interesting and imaginative - we look forward to seeing it complete on our next visit!

This is a fantastic museum, not only because of the displays, interactive and real, but because of the way the museum incorporates new buildings with the old Victorian and a 1930s bus station.

Didn't know what to expect with this place - but came away thoroughly impressed.
Didn't know what to expect with this place - but came away thoroughly impressed. Good mixture of exhibits that gave a brilliant overview of the regions history - and I very much liked the mixture of tactile and interactive displays. Its the kind of place the encourages you to touch, read, get involved, etc (at one end of the museum there's an area for kids to dress up in 60s clothing)! Probably one of the best regional museums visited so far - and they have a great cafe as well!
